Unable To Get A Car, Madhya Pradesh MLA Borrows Bike To Get To Assembly

Newly-elected Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Kamleshwar Dodiyar rode to Bhopal on motorcycle as he could not get a car, and broadcast his ride live through social media.

Dodiyar, the lone MLA of his party, was elected from the Sailana constituency in Ratlam district in the November 17 elections to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.

He tried to arrange a car for his first visit to the state capital after becoming an MLA, but could not get one, he told reporters.

Finally he borrowed his brother-in-law's motorbike, pasted a sticker with the word "MLA" on it, and rode off with an associate braving chilly weather, Dodiyar said after reaching Bhopal on Wednesday night after a 330-km ride.

After reaching Bhopal, he found accommodation at the MLA Rest House as a `guest'.

On Thursday, he lay prostrate before the assembly's entry gate to pay his respects to the temple of democracy and then presented his credentials as an MLA before the officials.

In a post on social media, where he tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ratlam police, Dodiyar said since he could not arrange a car for travelling to Bhopal to complete paperwork at the assembly, he was leaving on a motorbike and necessary security should be provided for him so that nothing untoward happens on the way.

He also broadcast his ride to Bhopal through Facebook Live.

As he belongs to the family of a poor labourer, he can not afford a four-wheeler, and he contested the election by borrowing money from people, he said.

Dodiyar, who defeated sitting Congress MLA Harsh Vijay Gehlot by 4,618 votes, is pursuing LLB from Delhi University.

While the BJP bagged 163 seats and the Congress 66 seats, BAP won the remaining one seat in the 230-member assembly.

Donald Trump Predicts He Will Get 150 Million Votes In 2024 US Election

Former US President Donald Trump, during an event on December 5, predicted he would receive 150 million votes from the public in the 2024 US presidential election. Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, was appearing at a Fox News event before a friendly audience in Davenport, Iowa, the state where the party's nominating contest kicks off on January 15, the Independent reported.

The former US president said, ''We have never seen the likes of what we've all done together. It's not just me, it is everybody here and millions and millions. I think it's not 75 million people, I think it's 150 million people, even more than that. Who doesn't want to see strong borders and a strong military and low taxes and low intern states and go out and buy a house?''

At the event, he also said that he would not become a dictator if he becomes U.S. president again except "on day one", after warnings from Democrats and some Republicans that America was in danger of becoming an autocracy if he won the 2024 election.

The Republican presidential candidate had to be asked twice during a televised town hall event in Iowa to deny that he would abuse power to seek revenge on political opponents if re-elected to the White House.

"No. No. Other than day one," Trump said when asked to deny he would become a "dictator" if he wins the November election. Trump said on "day one" he referred to, he would use his presidential powers to close the southern border with Mexico and expand oil drilling.

Trump, seeking a second White House term in a likely election re-match with Democratic President Joe Biden, has frequently promised "retribution" on political opponents if he gains power again.

Trump was US president between 2017 and 2021 and has refused to concede that he lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Since then Trump has spread false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him, a conspiracy that fueled the deadly insurrection by Trump supporters at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump's election lies also form a cornerstone of his current White House campaign.

Trump, however, is narrowly ahead in opinion polls despite facing some criminal trials including one for election subversion. Mr Biden's age is a particular concern with voters and there have been calls from some Democrats for him to step aside for a new candidate.

Karni Sena Chief Wrote To Ashok Gehlot, Top Cop, Got No Security: Wife

After the head of the fringe group Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena was shot dead at his Jaipur home, his wife has alleged that he had not been given security despite writing to the Rajasthan chief minister and the state police chief on several occasions, expressing apprehension about a threat to his life. The threat, she said, was a result of his "social work at the national and international level".

In the first information report (FIR) filed after Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi's killing, his wife, Shila Shekhawat, has also claimed that the Punjab Police had written to the Rajasthan Director General of Police Umesh Mishra in February about a plot to murder the Karni Sena chief and a similar input had also been given by the Jaipur Anti Terror Squad. She alleged that then chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Mr Mishra did not grant security cover to Gogamedi even after these inputs were received.

Three men shot Gogamedi multiple times from point-blank range at his Jaipur home on Tuesday, after having tea with him. While one of them was killed, two others are on the run.

Ms Shekhwat said she had read about the involvement of "international terrorist" Rohit Godara, who is hiding in Canada, as well as gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in her husband's killing. She alleged that many "foreign terrorists" were involved in the crime and Gogamedi had spoken of threats from them several times.

The two shooters who are on the run have been identified as Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji. Police sources said they may have been hired killers and that their arrest will be crucial in solving the case.

Gogamedi had also been named in several criminal cases and the police are exploring whether his killing was a result of an inter-gang rivalry.

The police have formed multiple teams to find the shooters and have announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh each for any information that leads to their arrest. The director general of police has also formed a special investigation team.

At This Japanese Restaurant, People Pay To Get Slapped By Waitresses

While restaurants across the world are experimenting with innovative themes to attract customers, an eatery in Japan has adopted a bizarre practice to captivate the attention of people. At an eatery called Shachihoko-ya in Nagoya, people willingly get slapped on their faces before having their meals served. For a mere 300 Japanese Yen (Rs 170), kimono-dressed waitresses slap a willing customer in the face with their palms, over and over again. There's also a 500 yen (Rs 283) surcharge if patrons request a specific staff member to slap them. The service is popular with both Japanese men and women, as well as foreign tourists.

Taking to the X, Bangkok Lad shared a video of the famous restaurant and wrote, ''This is Shachihokoya - a restaurant in Nagoya - where you can buy a menu item called 'Nagoya Lady's Slap' for 300 yen.'' The video has garnered thousands of views with hilarious reactions and comments from internet users.

Watch the video here:

''The harder the female staff slapped them, the more excited the patrons became. Not only were the patrons not angry, but they appeared to feel more relaxed after getting hit. They would even thank the staff member who smacked them,'' said the YouTube video narration on the 'Save Your Money In Japan' channel.

Notably, the controversial service, which started in 2012, revived the establishment's business, attracting an increasing number of patrons willing to try the experience. Initially, only one female staff member did the slapping. As demand grew, management hired several girls willing to dish out some slaps.

However, the establishment has now discontinued its face-smacking service after some videos of the bizarre service went viral. In a post on X, the restaurant urged people not to come by expecting to get slapped.

The post read, ''Shachihoko-ya currently does not offer slaps. We appreciate the attention it has received today, but we cannot accommodate visits with the intention of receiving slaps. We did not expect old videos to go viral like this, so please understand before coming.''

It is not clear whether the service will be back soon or they have discontinued it altogether.

"Edge Cases": Zerodha Founder Apologises After Outrage Over Outage

A day after the website of Zerodha faced an outage, with many users reporting login issues, the CEO of the popular online stock broker issued an apology for two glitches occurring in as many months. Monday's outage came on a day when benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty had hit record highs, prompting several users to take to social media to complain.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Zerodha Founder and CEO Nithin Kamath acknowledged the issue and assured users that mechanisms have been put in place to prevent it from occurring again.

"In the business updates post I shared in August this year, I mentioned how we hadn't had any large tech issues for a couple of years. Unfortunately, we have had two episodes in quick succession in the last two months, affecting between 5 and 20% of our active customers," Mr Kamath said.

He went on to point out that the company has multiple external dependencies, including exchanges and depositories, data centres, and leased lines for connectivity between exchanges and data centres.

"The issues on Nov 6th and Dec 4th were triggered due to edge cases with our external dependencies. This is no excuse, and I understand that, as a platform, we are responsible for all the issues you face. But I wanted to share with you what went wrong and what we are doing about it," the CEO said.

"The Nov 6th issue was due to an unscheduled update in the anti-malware monitoring service from our Execution Management System vendor, which started throttling our servers," he added.

Mr Kamath attributed Monday's issue to a much larger number of customer password reset requests, which caused login problems.

"We now have put in place fixes to ensure these types of cases don't affect our platform in the future. While we continuously put a lot of effort into ensuring all types of scenarios are factored in proactively, it is impossible for any technology platform to cover all edge cases... Please be assured that, as a team, we are doing whatever we can to ensure the platform's stability," the statement said.

The founder and CEO said social media has been a "double-edged sword" for the company and, while it had made interacting with customers easier, there is a "disproportionate" increase in the number of posts on X on a day like Monday.

"I am in no way saying this to minimise the issues traders faced, but just to highlight that we have a younger and more vocal online audience. Given that the markets moved significantly, there was a lot of interest from non-transacting users logging in to check their portfolios, making the disruption seem much larger than otherwise," he said.

Ending with an apology, Mr Kamath gave an assurance that the company sees stability and reliability as its top priorities.

"We are working hard towards that in whatever way possible. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience to those who were affected. If there have been any losses due to the incidents, create a ticket, and our team will try to get back to you as soon as possible with the best way to resolve them. Sorry again," he signed off.

Man In Chennai Gets Stuck In Lift For 30 Minutes Amid Cyclone Michaung

Cyclone Michaung, currently swirling over the Bay of Bengal and heading towards the Andhra coast, has unleashed torrential rain upon Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Several parts of the city are waterlogged and without electricity as the relentless downpour paralysed daily life. On Monday, a person took to X to share his experience after he missed an early morning flight from Chennai airport amid Cyclone Michaung. Not only that, he also ended up getting stuck in the elevator of his Chennai home for about half an hour after a power cut.

"Crazy morning! Cyclone Michuang in Chennai, Uber couldn't reach our apartments due to flooding, missed the flight to Mumbai, and then when returning home - had a power cut - so stuck in the elevator for half an hour before being rescued by society people," Suryanarayan Ganesh wrote on X.

Here's the post:

In another tweet, he thanked his Uber driver who relentlessly tried to reach his location to drive him to the airport. He wrote, ''Special shoutout to @Uber_India driver Prakash - absolute hero - tried to get to me for half hour through various routes driving almost 10 kms before I gave up, he didn't. Do rate / reward him well, I did send a tip via GPay. The app should allow rating/tips even for cancellation.''

Many internet users enquired why he stepped out despite warnings from authorities. Mr Ganesh replied saying that he had a big client meeting in Mumbai.

One user wrote, ''No matter whats important work always follow weather updates or at least follow many handles in X to get updates on weather. Don't venture out it's not safe. Let this a lesson who takes it lightly.. and do follow my weather updates buddies... Stay safe.''

Another commented, ''You should have planned well given the circumstances. Stay safe. I hope the Uber driver is safe at home.''

Meanwhile, authorities have declared a public holiday today and tomorrow, shutting schools and colleges across the city, and dispatched rescue teams to avert any untoward incidents. Operations at the Chennai airport have been suspended till 9 am tomorrow - with about 70 flights canceled due to flooding of the runway and tarmac, the Airport Authority of India.

"I Feel Like...": Bobby Gets Emotional Over Animal's Box Office Success

Bobby Deol's portrayal as a ruthless antagonist in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal has been successful in generating a thundering response from the audience. The immense love of the fans for his character and the film left the actor feeling overwhelmed. In a recent video doing the rounds on social media, the actor was spotted crying after coming out of the film's sreening in  Mumbai. Bobby Deol, who was pictured while stepping out of the screening greeted the paparazzi and also intearected with them. He said, “Thank you guys. Thank you so much. God has been really kind. I am getting so much love for this film. I feel like I am dreaming”. Later in the video, the actor was seen crying while hugging one of his team members. A teary-eyed Bobby Deol finally waved goodbye to the shutterbugs stationed outside and left the venue in his car.

This is the video we are talking about:

Meanwhiel, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal has entered the ₹100 crore club. The movie, which was released on December 1, has collected ₹67.27 crore (₹58.37 crore for Hindi version + ₹8.90 crore for South-Indian languages) on its second day, according to a tweet posted by Bollywood trade analyst, Taran Adarsh. The day 2 collections have even surpassed the opening day box office figure, which was ₹63.80 crore. In total, the Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna's film has minted ₹131.07 crore. Apart from Ranbir and Rashmika, Animal has a star-studded cast with Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Tripti Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor playing important roles. In his post, Taran Adarsh wrote, “‘ANIMAL' IS A BOXOFFICE MONSTER…#Animal goes WILD on Day 2 [Sat]… Metros, non-metros, mass pockets - the response is OUTSTANDING, takes the 2-day total to over ₹ 100 cr… “

In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave 1.5 stars to Animal. He wrote, “To justify that it is a man's world, Animal presents two men who are as physically impaired as they are mentally scarred. One loses all sense of taste and smell and is unable to hear after sustaining six bullet wounds that push his heart to the brink of collapse. The other cannot speak. He communicates with the help of a brother who serves as a sign language interpreter. When the two men square off in the climax - it is, like such clashes usually are in vengeance sagas of this sort, staged on the tarmac of an airstrip. If you think that the physical shortcomings that the warring pair has to deal with are meant to be seen as a metaphor for what men of their ilk lack, banish that thought. Everything that the hero does in order to ensure that he has his way is backed up with an odious justification. What motive could be greater, Animal seems to ask the audience, than a man's desire to win the attention of his distracted father?”

Animal clashed with Sam Bahadur, starring Vicky Kaushal, at the box office.
