India's Injury Crisis Puts Gambhir Under Spotlight: "Coach, Captain Decided"

The Indian team is going through one of its worst injury crises in recent times. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and B Sai Sudharsan were ruled out for the 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka, while there's no confirmation on the return of Washington Sundar for the second match. The BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) has also had to face heat for releasing unfit players for the national team, especially Bumrah. However, former India batter S Badrinath doesn't think the blame lies with the CoE and its head VVS Laxman.

For Badrinath, the majority of the blame should go to head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Shubman Gill and selectors, whose eagerness to draft Bumrah and others into the team led to this situation.

"I don't know who made the decision. CoE will not make the selection, right? They will just say he is in this state and can play these matches and his body is in this state. But I think the captain, coach, and selectors are taking the decision. CoE only passes the information. They are not selectors," Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Badrinath also didn't mince his words over the repeated injury issues involving Sundar. He said that fitness is not the all-rounder's forte, urging him to seriously work on himself if he intends to prolong his career and remain a consistent player for the national team.

"I don't have an immediate answer to the root cause of so many injuries. It is important to see what kind of injuries these are. At high-level professional sport, injuries are common. Sai Sudharsan got hit by a ball, with Bumrah, it is a chronic injury because of being overused and fitness is not Sundar's forte, he is injury-prone. His fitness needs a lot of work. Management and monitoring is very important. Injuries are bound to happen and you cannot control it," added Badrinath.

Vishal On Why Vijay Succeeded In Politics Where Other Actors Failed

Vishal, known for his performances in films like Irumbu Thirai and Mark Antony, recently opened up about his experience of meeting Vijay after he took on the role of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

“Vijay is the same when I met him recently. I didn't take a bouquet. I usually never buy bouquets. He's the same, only the posting has changed,” Vishal said in an interview with Honest Townhall.

Vishal also shared his perspective on why Vijay's entry into politics gained momentum, unlike the political ventures of several other actors before him. Vishal said, "It's not just actors. Actors with mass appeal have tried this before. There are so many other examples we have left out who have been failures. Sivaji Ganesan started a party. Legendary filmmaker Bhagyaraj started a party. We have examples all over the industry. Amitabh Bachchan could have started a party. Mithun Chakraborty is so famous, he could have been the face of West Bengal."

He added, “It's a calling. If someone has entrusted their faith in Vijay, it's not just because he is an actor turned politician. It's because they wanted a change, badly, literally very badly. And it is also a connectivity factor. He was different in the way he was talking. That is what maybe the first-time voters and everyone decided to go for the change, because there is nothing else they see."

Vishal pointed out a particular moment from Vijay's 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election campaign that he believes played a key role in strengthening the actor-turned-politician's position as a prime candidate.

“His last-day speech before the closing of the campaign nailed it. He said, go tell your parents and your grandparents and every elder in your house, please tell them to vote for me once. That really created a massive impact. I've seen a judge come on record saying that he voted because his granddaughter told him to vote for TVK. There have been instances like that,” he recalled.

On the work front, Vishal is set to make his directorial debut in the upcoming film Magudam. It releases in theatres on August 14.

"Was Supposed To Be India Head Coach, Could Not Take Up" The Role: VVS Laxman

Former Indian batter and BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) head VVS Laxman revealed that he was offered the role of Team India head coach back in 2023, but could not take it up for personal reasons and decided to continue as the head of the CoE and contribute to its development as it got a new facility of its own in Bengaluru. Amid concerns over the recent spate of injuries, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia met Laxman on Sunday to review the rehabilitation and injury-management programme at the facility. Saikia also attended the press conference along with Laxman, BCCI president Mithun Manhas and other senior officials.

Speaking during the presser, he said, "The reason why I extended (as the head of CoE): In 2023, I was supposed to become the head coach. Because of personal reasons, I was not able to take that up. I went and spoke to Jay (Shah) twice. He understood my reasons. Because of what Jay and the BCCI have given me, the freedom to execute my vision, it continues with Devajit and other office-bearers."

"I extended for two years, and I committed to the BCCI that here I am not taking up the head coach position, but I will make sure that I establish the CoE, I establish the structure, the processes and the protocols, before I move on," he added.

In September 2024, the BCCI's Centre of Excellence was inaugurated by then BCCI secretary Jay Shah, replacing the old facility operating at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium under the name of the National Cricket Academy.

Spanning over 40 acres, this facility is designed to become the epicentre for nurturing cricketing talent and advancing sports science in India. The Centre of Excellence features three grounds and 86 pitches, including both indoor and outdoor areas, showcasing its capacity to provide comprehensive training facilities.

In late 2021, Laxman took over from Rahul Dravid as the head of the CoE, with the latter becoming the Team India head coach. Laxman has been the head of the facility since then and, during his tenure, the CoE expanded into a full-fledged facility of its own.

Pak Cricketers Return From Unsanctioned Zambia League, Face 2-Year PCB Ban

A group of former Pakistan cricketers have returned from Zambia after featuring in an unsanctioned Twenty20 league, where they reportedly failed to receive full payment and now face a two-year ban from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The players went to Lusaka in order to take part in the Asian Legends League, a tournament that was promoted last month and which included among its featured names former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez, wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal and all-rounder Sohail Tanvir. Although Ambati Rayudu from India was originally going to take part in the league, he withdrew from Zambia without playing after finding out that the tournament had not been sanctioned.

The Lusaka T20 League, which included teams like Asian Stars, Pakistan Panthers, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, was set to start on August 2.

A source close to the players stated that Hafeez, Akmal, Tanvir and Zahid Mahmood had asked for information regarding the tournament after finding out that it had not been sanctioned by the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU).

The source said that players such as Hafeez, Akmal, Tanvir and Zahid Mahmood inquired about the league and, after finding out that it had not been sanctioned by the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU), and that the ZCU had issued a statement making it clear that the league received no sanction, approval or endorsement, some players, including India's Ambati Rayudu, decided to leave without taking part.

It is reported that several international players and their support staff were left stranded in Lusaka as they attempted to sort out their unpaid travel arrangements, and this has also resulted in demands for "a joint investigation involving multiple cricket boards".

Imran Nazir, Taufeeq Umar, Yasir Shah, Hasan Raza, Rahat Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Yasir Butt, Ibrar Hussain and Rana Anwar were among the former Pakistan players who took part in some matches.

The tournament was suddenly halted as a result of the ZCU's intervention. The report also stated that the organisers had not been able to finalise a broadcast deal.

After noticing that former Pakistan players had taken part in the Asian Legends League, the PCB announced a two-year ban, as it was discovered that the players had not secured the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the board.

A player acknowledged that it had been a mistake to take part in the tournament and said that the group had been misled by agents.

The player told Telecom Asia Network, on the condition of anonymity, that he had been misled by agents who had told him the league was approved by the ZCU and that he would receive a good amount of money. However, he suffered embarrassment as the hotel would not let him check into a room because of non-payment and he then faced further difficulties at the airport.

The player stated that the cricketers had returned without receiving the financial rewards they had hoped for and were now facing a serious punishment.

"The situation is a blow for all the players since they had gone there in order to earn some good money, which they haven't obtained, but what they have received instead is a severe punishment from the Pakistan Cricket Board," the player said.

Sources state that the affected players intend to approach Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB, and ask for clemency on the grounds that cricket is still their main source of income and that a two-year ban could have serious financial repercussions.

Akmal has also publicly supported his teammates and asked the PCB to review the punishment.

Akmal stated on social media that players from other countries such as India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan took part in the event and have not been banned, and that the PCB should reconsider this penalty since the players' livelihoods depend on cricket.

The controversy comes at a time when the International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed concern about the rapid increase in T20 franchise leagues worldwide. To supervise the development of T20 franchise cricket and ensure better coordination with the international cricket schedule, the ICC established a special Franchise Leagues Committee at its annual conference.

Tamim Iqbal, the former Bangladesh captain, has been named chairman of the committee.

R Madhavan Reacts To Dhurandhar 'Propaganda' Attack

In an interview with Galatta Plus, actor R Madhavan was asked about the successive release of films based on real-life characters such as Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Dhurandhar (where he played Ajit Sanyal, a character modelled on National Security Advisor Ajit Doval) and now GDN.

The actor replied, "I don't decide the release date of these films. I have done four big films in between but there are delays because of various reasons and it looks like I'm only doing biopics. But that's not the reason."

The anchor then asked the actor about the polarised social media climate and how many people viewed Dhurandhar as a 'propaganda' film and pro-Indian government and people end up labelling those who act in these movies as 'Sanghis'.

Madhavan is asked how he reacts to such comments and filters out these accounts to find the authentic/ relevant posts. In his reply, the actor said, "It's very easy to find out when you check out the username, when they set up the account and how many followers they have. You can figure out if it is a bot or it's a paid post. But that's not my point. My point is that everybody is a product of their conditioning. Right from the time I was a child, I was taught that my country is most important and what we do for our country is important."

Madhavan said he has never spoken negatively about any political party, politician or political leader in his social media posts or his interviews.

"If someone does something good, like Stalin sir for instance, I praise them immediately. I have decided that I will do only good and if I have doubts about something, I won't talk about it. When an elected politician becomes a Prime Minister or a Chief Minister, I believe it is my duty to support them.

"Till date, no political party has asked me or hinted that I join them or do publicity for them at the state or national level. When I read such comments, I feel they are saying it out of some frustration but it doesn't affect my decision-making. If, for instance, a sportsman makes our country proud by winning and they say we should post about it, I think it feels right. If someone is feeling bad about that then I question their intent."

When asked that people on social media can put up any criticism like Dhurandhar is "propaganda" or Rocketry: The Nambi Effect showcased "too much Indian tradition and customs", Madhavan counter questioned: "How is it wrong to be an Indian? Why can't I show that I'm Indian? We are only showcasing what happened. I am not saying this as a political statement - basically, I don't understand this. In Dhurandhar, we have shown what happened in Pakistan - how is it propaganda? In Rocketry, we have shown what Nambi sir is and says in real life. We have not manufactured it. How can I be honest to the story when I feel afraid of who he really is. I have to be true to the character."

Madhavan will next be seen in GDN, based on the life of legendary engineer and philanthropist Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, widely known as the "Edison of India". The film also starring Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani, Vinay Rai, Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan. It will hit the screens on Friday.

Telegram Removed From Apple's iOS App Store Worldwide: Reports; Users Share Screenshots

Telegram has unexpectedly disappeared from Apple's App Store search results worldwide, leaving users unable to find or download the messaging app on iPhones and iPads. The removal has also resulted in "Page Not Found" errors on Telegram's official App Store listing.

As of now, neither Apple nor Telegram has issued an official statement explaining the app's disappearance, and Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has not commented on the incident.

It remains unclear whether the app was removed due to a technical issue or a policy-related action.

A Similar Incident in 2018

This is not the first time Telegram has been removed from Apple's App Store. In February 2018, Apple temporarily delisted both Telegram and its experimental Telegram X app after identifying inappropriate and illicit content circulating through public channels.

According to BitPinas, Apple reportedly required Telegram to strengthen its content moderation systems, permanently ban offending accounts, and address policy violations before restoring both apps within 24 hours.

Impact on Apple Users

The current removal does not affect existing Telegram accounts, but it does create several limitations for Apple users. Those who already have Telegram installed can continue using the app, but they are advised not to uninstall it, as it cannot currently be re-downloaded from the App Store, as per BitPinas.

Users setting up a new iPhone or iPad are also unable to install the official Telegram app. In addition, iOS updates, bug fixes, performance improvements, and security patches are temporarily unavailable until the listing is restored.

However, Telegram's web version, desktop applications for Windows and macOS, and the Android app continue to function normally.

Meanwhile, users are complaining on social media, sharing screenshots and expressing confusion over Telegram's sudden disappearance from the App Store.

About Telegram

Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging platform known for its speed, security, and synchronisation across multiple devices. With more than 1 billion active users, it ranks among the world's five most-downloaded messaging applications.

Lock Upp 2: Harshad Becomes 1st Finalist After Shivangi's Emotional Sacrifice

The latest episode of Lock Upp 2 delivered an emotional rollercoaster, complete with heartfelt sacrifices, unexpected confessions, and a shocking elimination twist that left both the contestants and viewers stunned.

The episode began with a major task that would decide the season's first finalist. Contestants were asked to unanimously choose one person to move a step closer to the finale.

Right at the start, Shreya Kalra secured a special advantage in the game. Meanwhile, Yogesh made a surprising move by choosing to keep Rs 10 lakh for himself. Interestingly, he did not have to leave the show to claim the cash reward and continued his journey inside Lock Upp 2.

As the game progressed, Laila, Shilpa Shinde, Ram Kapoor and Akanksha Chamola voluntarily stepped out of the race, leaving only Shivangi Joshi and Harshad Chopda inside the cell.

Harshad's Confession Leaves Shivangi In Tears

With the final decision resting between the two, Harshad made a confession that completely changed the mood inside the jail. He admitted that he had deliberately lost the previous challenge.

"I did lose that game," Harshad told Shivangi.

His revelation left Shivangi emotional as she struggled to understand why he had willingly given up an earlier opportunity. T

Shivangi then said that if winning Lock Upp 2 was truly written in her destiny, she would eventually lift the trophy. Both contestants initially insisted that the other deserved to stay and even offered to walk out of the cell themselves.

However, Harshad later stood by his decision to remain, explaining that he had not yet received a chance to play for himself. After Riteish Deshmukh asked them to make the final call, Shivangi chose to step out, officially making Harshad Chopda the first finalist of Lock Upp 2.

A Shocking Elimination

Just when it seemed the emotional drama had ended, the episode served up another surprise.

Riteish Deshmukh revealed that the advantage Shreya Kalra won came with immense power. She was given the authority to eliminate one contestant from the show.

After hearing appeals from the contestants, Shreya made her decision and chose to eliminate Shivangi Joshi. The announcement left everyone inside the jail visibly shocked.

Whether Shivangi has actually exited the competition or whether another twist awaits is something viewers will have to find out in the upcoming episode.

Lock Upp 2 streams every day except Friday at 8 pm on Netflix.

Tukaram Mundhe Impact: Bombay HC Canteen Temporarily Shut After FDA Inspection

The Bombay High Court canteen has been temporarily shut down following an inspection by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 30, NDTV reported. All food and beverage operations on the premises have been suspended until further notice.

In a formal communication, the Bombay Bar Association (BBA) stated that dining services provided through its primary canteen and independent coffee vendor will remain closed to lawyers, litigants, and court visitors for the time being.

However, the Association clarified that the decision to halt operations was taken voluntarily as a precautionary measure. The BBA emphasized that it has not received any adverse communication, show-cause notice, or formal order from the state food regulator following the inspection.

Sooryavanshi Handed Leadership Role, Named Vice-Captain In This Tournament

Indian cricket team young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named vice-captain of East Zone for the 2026 Duleep Trophy. Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan was appointed captain with the squad comprising of seasoned veterans like Mohammed Shami, Mukesh Kumar, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Shahbaz Ahmed. Sooryavanshi made his senior team debut during the series against England and although he did not have a good outing, he made up for it in the series against Zimbabwe where he slammed two half-centuries. India went on to win all three matches in the series.

Kishan enters the tournament after a strong performance in India's recent white-ball series against Zimbabwe. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter delivered several aggressive innings at the top of the order, giving India quick starts. His recent form and leadership experience made him the top choice to lead the East Zone side.

All eyes will be on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is rising quickly in Indian cricket after a breakthrough season. The young player recently stood out during India's series against Zimbabwe, showing impressive calm against international bowling while maintaining the strong form he has shown over the past year.

The batting unit also includes Sudip Kumar Gharami, Virat Singh, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal, Subhranshu Senapati, Denish Das, and Shikhar Mohan. Kumar Kushagra will serve as another wicketkeeping option.

Shami brings valuable experience to the bowling attack as he returns to domestic cricket. He will be backed by Mukesh Kumar and Abhijit Sarkar, with Shahbaz Ahmed and Anukul Roy likely to play important all-round roles.

East Zone squad: Ishan Kishan (captain), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (vice-captain), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sudip Kumar Gharami, Shahbaz Ahmed, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal, Mohammed Shami, Mukesh Kumar, Kumar Kushagra, Shikhar Mohan, Anukul Roy, Virat Singh, Subhranshu Senapati, Denish Das and Abhijit Sarkar.

BCCI Decides To Not Renew 2 India Coaches' Contracts After England Series

Winds of change are sweeping through Indian cricket. After the tours of Ireland and England, where India lost two T20I series and an ODI series, the BCCI was expected to conduct a review. It has now been confirmed that the BCCI will not renew the contracts of assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip. The development was shared by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. "Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeshchate's two-year contract with Indian men's team ended on June 10. Fielding coach T Dilip, who was given a one-year extension after his original term ended, also had his contract ending on June 8," BCCI secretary Saikia told PTI in an exclusive interaction.

"The BCCI continued with the duo till the end of India's tour of United Kingdom. However, the BCCI is not giving them any extension. There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended," the secretary cleared the air.

A few reports have claimed that Subhodeep Ghosh will be the new Indian fielding coach. However, Saikia said: "BCCI is in talks with two or three candidates to finalise the new fielding coach for the Indian men's team."

Assam's Ghosh, who has been in the system for last six to seven years since the time of Rahul Dravid at the NCA, is the favourite right now.

It must be mentioned that Ten Doeschate intended to leave as when he was brought on board on Gautam Gambhir's insistence, he was promised fielding coach's job but was given no specific role in last two years.

In case of Dilip, his extension for one year before the 2025 Test series in England was on insistence of a senior superstar but no one was happy with his performance. It would have been a miracle had he been given any further extension after poor show during the recent white ball tour of UK.

Gujarat Breaks Own Record, 9 Athletes Earn India Call-Up For Asian Games 2026

Gujarat has scripted a new chapter in Indian sports, with a record nine athletes and one reserve player earning selection to represent India at the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The achievement marks a remarkable rise for the state, which had only three representatives at the 2014 Asian Games. Twelve years later, Gujarat has tripled that number, underlining its emergence as one of India's fastest-growing sporting hubs Calling it a proud moment for the state, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said the achievement reflects the long-term investments made in sports development.

"Former Chief Minister and now Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid a strong foundation for sports in Gujarat through initiatives such as Khel Mahakumbh and the Shaktidoot Yojana. The results of those efforts are now visible. Gujarat is steadily emerging as a global sports powerhouse," Sanghavi said.

The state's sporting success is being credited to sustained investments in grassroots development and athlete support over the past decade. Initiatives introduced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, including the Shaktidoot Yojana and Khel Mahakumbh, created pathways for identifying and nurturing sporting talent across the state.

The current government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has continued to strengthen that ecosystem through enhanced infrastructure, athlete support programmes and high-performance training.

Highlighting the state's sporting ambitions, Harsh Sanghavi said Gujarat is focused on building a world-class sporting culture.

"Our goal is not just to train athletes but to build an entire ecosystem that enables them to excel on the international stage and bring glory to the nation," he said.

He also noted that Gujarat is preparing on a war footing to develop world-class sports infrastructure ahead of hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Over the past decade, Gujarat has consistently increased its representation at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, reflecting the state's steady transformation into a multi-sport powerhouse.

With a record-breaking contingent set to compete in Japan, all eyes will now be on Gujarat's athletes as they look to make their mark on one of Asia's biggest sporting stages. The nine selected athletes represent a wide range of disciplines, highlighting Gujarat's growing contribution to Indian sport beyond its traditional cricketing identity. The contingent comprises a blend of experienced international performers and promising young talent.

The selected athletes are:

Elavenil Valarivan - Shooting

Harmeet Desai - Table Tennis

Manav Thakkar - Table Tennis

Manush Shah - Table Tennis

Aniket Patel - Soft Tennis

Aryan Nehra - Swimming

Ankita Raina - Tennis

Vaidehi Chaudhari - Tennis

Devyani Zala - Athletics (Sprint)

Meanwhile, Jil Desai has been named as a reserve player in tennis.

"Goal Is Gold": Judoka Harsh Aims To Script CWG History In 1st Attempt

Indian judoka Harsh Tokas is aiming to script history at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, with the 81kg competitor setting his sights on becoming the first Indian to win a judo gold at the Games. The 23-year-old, who will be making his Commonwealth Games debut, said he has left no stone unturned in his preparations and is looking forward to competing on one of the biggest stages of his career. "The preparation is going really well. It has been at a next-level intensity for the past 2-3 months. I have given it my absolute 100% effort. This is the first time I've played at this level; it's going to be a unique experience. I am competing in the 81kg category. As for the challenges, I'll only find out the specifics once I'm there, but the plan is to play freely. The goal is definitely gold. No one from our country has ever won gold in this event at the Commonwealth Games, so bringing back gold would create history and be a wonderful achievement for the nation," Tokas told ANI.

Tokas has risen through India's age-group judo system after making his mark on the Asian circuit. He won a bronze medal at the 2018 Macau Cadets Asian Cup before recording a top-eight finish at the Asian Cadet Championships later that year. He also finished among the top five at the 2019 Asia-Oceania Cadet Championships.

Having progressed into the senior 81kg category, Tokas secured his place in India's Commonwealth Games squad through the national selection process and will be part of a six-member men's judo team competing in Glasgow.

India heads into the Games looking to secure its first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in judo. The country's best performance in the sport came at the 2014 Glasgow Games, where Indian judokas claimed four medals, including two silver and two bronze.

The Indian judo team will depart for Glasgow on July 27, with competition beginning on July 31 at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).

India's original 14-member judo contingent has been reduced to 12 athletes following the withdrawal of men's 73kg judoka Arun Kumar after a positive out-of-competition anti-doping test and Birmingham 2022 silver medallist Tulika Maan due to a provisional suspension over whereabouts failures.

Despite the setbacks, Tokas remains one of India's promising medal hopefuls as he prepares for his maiden Commonwealth Games appearance with the ambition of creating history.

Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro Appears on Geekbench Ahead of Anticipated Launch

Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro has surfaced on Geekbench ahead of its expected launch, revealing several key hardware details. The benchmark listing suggests that the upcoming Galaxy F-series smartphone will be powered by the same chipset as the recently launched Galaxy M47. The appearance follows multiple certification listings, indicating that Samsung could introduce the handset soon. Previous leaks have also hinted at its display, battery, cameras, software support and possible pricing in India.

Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro Geekbench Listing

A Geekbench listing for the Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro, carrying the model number SM-E476B, has revealed the phone's chipset, memory configuration and software. The benchmark database shows the handset with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and Android 16. It recorded a single-core score of 998 and a multi-core score of 3,090.samsung galaxy f70 pro geekbench inline Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro Geekbench Listing

The Geekbench listing also identifies the motherboard codename as parrot, while the listed CPU configuration and Adreno GPU match the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. The same processor recently debuted on the Samsung Galaxy M47.

Before appearing on Geekbench, the smartphone had already surfaced on Samsung India's website, the BIS certification portal and the Bluetooth SIG database, pointing to an approaching launch.

Earlier reports have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro could feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The handset is also expected to pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The handset is tipped to feature a triple rear camera unit led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation. Other expected features include NFC, an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro is expected to ship with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. Samsung is also tipped to provide up to six years of Android OS upgrades for the handset. The Galaxy F70 Pro could additionally feature a leather-like rear panel, continuing a design approach seen on several recent Galaxy F-series smartphones.

Samsung has previously introduced closely related Galaxy M and Galaxy F series models with similar hardware, but offered them through different sales channels. If the company follows the same strategy, the Galaxy F70 Pro could arrive as the Galaxy F-series counterpart to the recently launched Galaxy M47.

A retailer communication leaked earlier this year suggested that the Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro could be offered in three storage variants. The 6GB + 128GB model could be priced at Rs. 32,999, while the 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants may cost Rs. 36,999 and Rs. 41,999, respectively.
