"I Don't Suggest...": Australia Great's Tip For Defeating India In WC 2023

Legendary Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist praised the Indian cricket team fast bowlers for their devastating form in the Cricket World Cup 2023 and said that it will be better for teams to face them in daylight. Under the floodlights, the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami have enjoyed a brilliant run of form and Gilchrist believes that the key to beating India can be to bat first against them. In a recent interaction, the former wicket-keeper batter pointed out that he rates India highly as a chasing side but batting during the daytime may help a bit in negating their dangerous pace threat.

“I think firstly winning the toss and batting first, given how India have gone about their business. I don't suggest that they have a weakness in chasing. They have the greatest-ever run-chase coordinator in Virat Kohli. But the damage that the Indian bowling attack has been doing under lights, they have been lethal. Siraj, Shami, and Bumrah have been almost unplayable. It might be more conducive to bat against them in daylight,” Gilchrist told Fox Cricket.

Gilchrist also explained that although India have been traditionally great in spin bowling, it is an established pace attack that will transform them into an overseas threat.

“India identified that they were a bit top-heavy with the spin talent, especially with the conditions over there. But if they wanted to be competitive overseas, they needed to develop a fast bowling program. The MRF pace academy with Dennis Lilee and now Glenn McGrath certainly helped,” he added.

Airbnb Guest Leaves US Mansion After "Squatting" For Nearly 600 Days

A US woman who was accused of squatting for over a year in a Los Angeles guesthouse that she booked on Airbnb is finally out. According to People, 55-year-old Elizabeth Hirschhorn left the guest house on Friday with a police escort after 575 days of rent-free living at the $3.5 million property. She had been living in the house since September 2021. She had initially booked a six-month stay in the property's luxury guesthouse but squatted after the term ended.

"It was quite a crazy moment because we were in the house, filming with a news channel," landlord Sascha Jovanovic told NewsNation. "And then these three men started walking [to the guest house], and I had no idea who was walking into it. I approached them, they didn't want to speak to me. ... Then I called the police as a home invasion, three men entering our property," he added. Notably, those three men turned out to be the movers, according to the outlet.

Mr Jovanovic had met Ms Hirschhorn when she rented his guesthouse through Airbnb for six months at $105 per night. However, she later refused to leave and even demanded $100,000 to cover relocation costs. Mr Jovanovic claimed that Ms Hirschhorn also wouldn't let him in the unit to bring everything up to code.

Notably, Mr Jovanovic's guest house was never properly licensed as a rental on Airbnb and since Ms Hirschhorn stayed there for at least six months, he could not evict her under Los Angeles' "Just Cause" ordinance. According to the Los Angeles Housing Department, the ordinance "prohibits terminations of tenancies without just cause and requires relocation assistance for no-fault evictions".

Both parties had filed lawsuits against each other, however, Mr Jovanovic's lawyer filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of prejudice in Los Angeles County Superior Court regarding the eviction case. The Judge then granted the request to dismiss the eviction case, but the lawsuit regarding the damages against Ms Hirschhorn is still ongoing.

"I'm very relieved and also a bit overwhelmed," the landlord told the People. "It was a long time coming but now she is finally out! This weekend is going to be very positive," he added.

For now, it is unclear if Ms Hirschhorn has moved out permanently or plans to return. However, the outlet reported that the landlord has since changed the locks on the property.

"Unethical Conduct" By Mahua Moitra, Says Ethics Panel: Case So Far

The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, examining the "cash-for-query" allegations against Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra, has recommended her expulsion from Parliament in a 500-page report accessed by NDTV. She has been asked to appear before the panel tomorrow.

A look back at the case so far:

BJP's Nishikant Dubey demanded Mahua Moitra's immediate suspension from Parliament last month, accusing her of taking bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to ask questions in the House to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Adani group. He wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighting Ms Moitra's alleged breach of parliamentary privilege, contempt of House, and criminal conspiracy.

Between 2019 and 2023, 50 of the 61 questions asked by Ms Moitra were at the behest of Darshan Hiranandani, Mr Dubey alleged, adding that the MP gave Mr Hiranandani access to her Lok Sabha account for him to directly post the questions. Mr Dubey cited "painstaking research" by advocate Jai Anand Dehadrai, who approached the CBI with some of his allegations.

Mahua Moitra rubbished all allegations against her, labelling Mr Dehadrai as a "jilted ex". Mr Dehadrai, in a letter to the Delhi Police, claimed he anticipated "a very serious threat to his life" because of his complaint. He claimed a direct attempt was made to coerce him into withdrawing his complaint.

Nishikant Dubey's complaint to Speaker Om Birla was referred to the Ethics Panel of Parliament, which called Nishikant Dubey and Jai Anand Dehadrai for a hearing.

In the meantime, Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani, in an explosive affidavit, claimed that Ms Moitra had indeed shared her parliament credentials with him to frame and post questions on the Adani group, which she felt was the "only way" to target PM Modi.

Mr Hiranandani further claimed that Ms Moitra was "dominating", "ambitious", and demanded several "favours", including expensive luxury items, "providing support for the renovation of her officially allotted bungalow in Delhi", and travel and holiday expenses. He said he gave in to her demands to retain their friendship and her support.

The affidavit was shredded by Ms Moitra, who alleged that the Prime Minister's office "held a proverbial gun" to Mr Hiranandani's head to make him sign the white paper that was "leaked to the press".

However, just a day later, Mr Hiranandani, in an interview with a news channel, insisted that he had not filed the affidavit under any pressure. In the interview, the businessman said he spoke up since the "cash-for-query" allegations named him "directly and personally" and admitted that he used Mahua Moitra's parliamentary login ID and password to post questions from Dubai.

The controversy took a surprising turn when Mahua Moitra admitted that she did share her parliament login ID and password with Mr Hiranandani. She also admitted to receiving gifts but said that the only things she got from Mr Hiranandani were "one scarf, some lipsticks, and other makeup items including eye shadow". Ms Moitra, however, denied taking bribes from him and demanded that she be given the chance to cross-examine him.

The firebrand MP refused to appear before the Ethics Committee on October 31, the first summons she got. Explaining her stance, Ms Moitra said, "Chairman, Ethics Comm announced my 31/10 summons on live TV way before the official letter was emailed to me at 19:20 hours. All complaints and suo moto affidavits were also released to the media. I look forward to deposing immediately after my pre-scheduled constituency programmes end on November 4." She called it a "selective leak of a plea bargain" and said it was part of the establishment's "witch hunt into every political leader who dares question Adani".

She finally appeared before the panel on November 2 but staged a walkout along with the Opposition MPs, questioning the way the meeting was conducted and accusing the panel of subjecting her to "proverbial vastraharan (stripping)" in a letter to the Speaker. The panel shot back saying she did not cooperate and left in order to avoid answering more questions.

The ethics committee chief Vinod Sonkar said Ms Moitra did not cooperate during her cross-examination. "Objectionable words were used against the panel's functioning and me," he said. Another panel member, Aparajita Sarangi, said Ms Moitra "behaved in an angry, arrogant manner when asked about Darshan Hiranandani's affidavit". But the Opposition MPs alleged that the committee asked "personal and unethical questions" to Ms Moitra, and one of the MPs leaked details of the meeting to the media while it was underway. "What kind of meeting was this? They are asking all kinds of filthy questions," a visibly upset Ms Moitra told reporters.

On Wednesday, anti-corruption body Lokpal, which took up the case in a meeting and approved it, ordered a CBI probe into the corruption allegations against Ms Moitra, Nishikant Dubey said in a post on X. "On basis of my complaint, Lokpal has ordered a CBI probe into the Mahua Moitra's corruption that compromises national security," read the BJP MP's post.

Th Ethics Panel will meet tomorrow to adopt the report on Mahua Moitra.

Missed Maxwell's Super-heroic 201* vs Afghanistan? Watch It Here

Glenn Maxwell - from Tuesday, he can very well be the synonym for super hero! The Australia star notched one of the greatest knocks ever by scoring 201* in a 292-run chase against Afghanistan to take his team to the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup. Glenn Maxwell's innings was laden with 10 sixes and 21 fours. He reached the double century mark in just 128 balls at a strike-rate of 157.03. Australia were reduced to 91/7 in 18.3 overs at one stage with Afghanistan bowlers controlling the show. Then Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins stitched a humongous stand to take Australia home.

Battling pain and exhaustion, Glenn Maxwell conjured arguably the greatest knock (201 not out off 128 balls) in the history of limited overs cricket to singlehandedly propel Australia to a sensational three-wicket win over Afghanistan in the World Cup here on Tuesday.

With this, Australia became the third team to enter the semifinals.

Opting to bat, opener Ibrahim Zadran became the first Afghanistan batter to score a World Cup hundred and guided his team to 291 for five.

In reply, Australia were down and out at 91 for seven in the 19th over. That's when Maxwell decided to take charge and led an incredible comeback while adding 202 runs for the eighth wicket with skipper Pat Cummins (12 not out), who watched the mayhem unfolding from the other end.

In all, Maxwell smashed 21 boundaries and 10 sixes.

Earlier, Zadran carried his bat through the innings and finished on 129 not out off 143 balls.

Afghanistan lost opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a 25-ball 21 but Zadran and Rahmat Shah stitched 83 runs for the second wicket to lay a good foundation before the latter was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell for a 44-ball 30 in the 25th over with the score reading 121.

Unperturbed by the loss of few wickets at the other end, Zadran continued to accumulate runs at a decent rate to prop up his team against the five-time world champions.

Rashid Khan smashed unbeaten 35 off 18 balls towards the end.

"Mad Max Show": Maxwell's Explosive Double Ton Sends Internet Into Frenzy

Glenn Maxwell produced a sensational performance to guide Australia to a brilliant comeback win over Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on Tuesday. The all-rounder braved early setbacks and cramps to remain unbeaten on 201 off 128 deliveries. It was the first double ton for the veteran Australian cricketer and even back spasms could not deter his explosive batting at the Wankhede Stadium. Maxwell looked dominant against the Afghanistan bowling attack as he slammed 21 fours and 10 sixes. With the Aussies losing 7 wickets for 91, it looked like Afghanistan were on course to a huge win but he had other plans. He stitched together a historic 202-run stand with Pat Cummins to clinch the win.

Australia became the third side after India and South Africa to book their spot in the Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinals. They will finish third irrespective of what happens in their final group stage match.

Afghanistan posted a total of 291/5 with Ibrahim Zadran becoming the first Afghan batter to score a century in the Cricket World Cup. He slammed 129 off 143 deliveries.

"It was hot while fielding today, I haven't done a lot of exercise in the heat, it got a hold on me today. I wanted to stay back and get some movement (on my legs). Not too much (when asked about plans at 92/7), just stick to the batting plans as much as possible, for me, still be positive, still look to play my shots, that LBW, it was going just above (the stumps), probably that made me be more proactive."

"A hint of swing and nip (off the surface), as it happens here under lights, they bowled beautifully to exploit that. It would have been nice if it was a chanceless knock, but I had my chances, to make the most of it tonight was something I can be proud of. Amazing, after the first two games, people were quick to write us off. The belief was always there (as a team), after today, it would have gone a bit higher," Maxwell said after the match.
