"Is This A Market...": Chief Justice Snaps At Lawyer On Phone In Courtroom

"Yeh kya market hai jo aap phone pe baat kar rahe hai?" Chief Justice DY Chandrachud remarked on Monday as he took strong exception to a lawyer talking on the mobile phone inside his courtroom.

The CJI, who was holding the bench along with Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, ordered the court staff to confiscate the lawyer's mobile phone.

"Yeh kya market hai jo aap phone pe baat kar rahe hai? Inka mobile le lo" (Is this a market that you are talking on the phone. Confiscate his mobile phone)," Justice Chandrachud said.

The lawyer was talking on the phone inside the courtroom, prompting the CJI to halt the proceedings and address him directly.

The CJI issued a stern warning to the lawyer and said, "Be careful in the future. Judges see everything. We may be looking at the papers, but we have eyes everywhere."

Aus Star Reacts As Storm Sees Hoarding Fall, Fans Run For Cover In Lucknow

Strong winds caused several hoardings to fall from the roof of the Ekana Stadium on to the seats below during the World Cup match between Australia and Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Monday. After rain stopped play for a bit, there was a dust storm and heavy winds led to several iron angles with branding material from the roof falling on people sitting at the lower levels.

The situation could have turned worse, but luckily, the stands were relatively empty. It did, however, cause panic among those who were watching the game as the public announcement asked spectators to move to safety of the upper decks.

Asked about the incident after the match, Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa, one of the star performers of the game with figures of 4/47, said, "Never been a part of that, never seen something like that. But there was no one hurt hopefully. There was a metal pole coming down I've never seen anything like that."

By the time the second innings began the security had moved all spectators to the upper levels.

The stadium hosted its maiden World Cup game -- Australia versus South Africa -- last week.

The marquee India versus England match is scheduled to be played at the Ekana Stadium on October 29.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa on Monday revealed that he has been suffering from back spasm for the last couple of days, but that could not come in his way of producing a match-winning effort against Sri Lanka in the World Cup here.
The 31-year-old Zampa was adjudged the Player of the Match after returning impressive figures of 8-1-47-4 as Australia posted their first win of the ongoing tournament.

"To be honest, I wasn't feeling great because I had a bit of a back spasm. Was playing through it the last couple of days. Today I felt better, bowled better today," Zampa said after the match.

"Personally, not at my best and last game particularly felt I could have been doing better. My job in this team is to take wickets in the middle order. Didn't quite do that last game and put the pressure on the death bowlers.

"Today, I've been feeling better, but nice to come out on the winning side today. Took a while to get into the game, just got to keep that wicket taking attitude going, doesn't matter if I leak some runs." Australia had lost to India and South Africa in their first two matches and skipper Pat Cummins was a happy man as his side ticked all the boxes against Sri Lanka.

"Yeah, happy today. It was probably that nothing was said and it was just on the back of two losses...The energy in the field was nice to start with and everything else flowed.

Viral Post Claims To Show Starbucks' Recipes Leaked By A Fired Employee

Starbucks is a staple across the globe and offers a variety of delicious beverages. Recently, a fired employee took sneaky revenge on the company by leaking every drink's recipe on social media. The leaked menu images contain precise measurements, types of syrups, and ice proportions, offering a step-by-step guide for making Starbucks beverages.

''A Starbucks employee got fired and she posted every Starbucks drink recipe. you're welcome,'' the thread was captioned on X. From cold brew to frappes, the thread has it all.

See the images here:

Needless to say, the images have gone viral, and many people rejoiced at the fact that they will now be able to recreate their favourite Starbucks drinks at home. Several people bookmarked the thread and saved it for future reference.

One user reacted to the post and wrote, “Recipes!!! Starbucks lovers.. this thread is a gift for y'all!! This is what happens when u treat your employees like trash.. pay them low wages, don't give them employee benefits, and penalize them for forming a union!”. Another commented, ''Now we make our own cute drinks and we'll write our own names and we'll call it Ariane Grande or whatever.''

A third said, ''Download these quick before Starbucks forces Twitter to remove them!'' A fourth added, ''Hahaha. This is gem. Fans of Starbucks, this is a treasure.''

Notably, Starbucks considers information about ''recipes, formulas, coffee blends'' as confidential and should not be ''disclosed to anyone outside of the company''. Some users expressed concern for future employees, as they might have to face stricter rules and contracts. Others also warned that the X user who shared the images might get in trouble for leaking the company's confidential information.

''Now it's trouble for other new recruits...their contractual clauses will be worse,'' another user stated. Yet another added, ''If only someone could take these recipes and start a cheaper Starbucks.''

However, this is not the first time that an employee has done this. Several former employees have also disclosed the menu's recipes on TikTok.

Starbucks has not issued an official statement regarding the leak of its recipes.

"What We Had Feared...": Raghav Chadha After No Guard Of Honour For Agniveer

Strongly objecting to an Agniveer jawan, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, not being accorded a funeral with full military honours, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Sunday hit out at the Centre saying that it only lays bare its 'Agniveer' recruitment scheme. The Agniveer jawan was on sentry duty in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri when he died of an accidental discharge from his service weapon.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, the suspended AAP Rajya Sabha MP said, "What we had feared, happened."

The AAP MP said his party had strongly criticised the Agniveer scheme and raised strong apprehensions about it when it was introduced by the central government.

"When the BJP government brought the Agniveer Yojana, there were many speculations and concerns around this recruitment scheme that had been left unaddressed. The Aam Aadmi Party, too, criticised the scheme and had raised several questions on it," Mr Chadha said.

He added that while he was not accorded a funeral in line with the time-honoured military tradition, the AAP government in Punjab decided to lay agniveer Amritpal Singh with full state honours.

"When agniveer Amritpal was not given military honours by the BJP government, the Punjab Police decided to lay him to rest with full state honours. This country is what it is because of our soldiers and not because of (political) leaders," he said.

He said the remains of the Agniveer soldier were brought to his village by a private ambulance, without the presence of any Army unit barring a havaldar and two jawans in civil uniform.

"When the mortal remains of Shaheed Amritpal Singh were brought to his native Kotli Kalan village in Mansa, there was no accompanying Army unit. His body, which arrived in a private ambulance, was accompanied by an Army havaldar and two jawans in civil uniform. Not even an army vehicle escorted the ambulance carrying his mortal remains," Mr Chadha said.

The AAP MP claimed that Amritpal's family will neither get any pension nor will their son be recognised as a "shaheed".

"Neither will his family get any pension nor will their son, the Agniveer, get the status of a shaheed. Is this the true face of the Agniveer scheme?" Mr Chadha questioned.

Earlier, on Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the state government will give Rs 1 crore compensation to the family of the Agniveer jawan as per the state's policy.

"Whatever may be the policy of the army regarding the death of Shaheed Amritpal Singh, the policy of the Punjab government will remain the same as it is for every martyr. Amritpal Singh will go down as a martyr. We will raise strong objections to this (not according him a funeral with full military honours) with the central government," Mr Mann posted on 'X'.

"If Want To Live In India, Have To Say Bharat Mata Ki Jai": Union Minister

Union Minister Kailash Choudhary on Saturday asserted that those who want to live in India should say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.

Mr Choudhary, MoS (Agriculture), was speaking at a farmers' convention organised by the BJP.

Referring to the "language used" by public representatives in Hyderabad, he said a "lesson should be taught" to them in the time to come and that a government with nationalistic thinking should be formed in the state.

Those who say in India that they will not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', to hell with them, he said. "Bharat me rehna hai, tho 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' bolna hoga (If you want to live in India, you have to say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'), he insisted.

"Living in India, would you say 'Pakistan Zindabad'," he asked.

Only those who say 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' have a place in the country, he went on.

"That's why I would like to say, if there is any such person who does not say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and does not have faith in Hindustan and Bharat and keeps faith in 'Pakistan Zindabad', he should go to Pakistan. There is no need here," he said.

It is "necessary" for the country to have a nationalist ideology in the region, he said, adding that the country should be strengthened with collective efforts.

The farmers' convention was organised by the BJP on the occasion of the union cabinet recently approving the terms of reference of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal that will govern the division of the river water between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Referring to the opposition alliance naming itself INDIA, Mr Choudhary alleged that "Congress people" first "stole the name" of Mahatma Gandhi, which was preceded by them taking the name of "Congress" which was originally formed to achieve freedom for the country.

"They have given the name INDIA. But, this work of stealing names, (they are) not doing from today. If they have done the work of stealing name first, Congress people first stole the name of Mahatma Gandhi ji. Today, it is Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi. By stealing Gandhi, they want to become like Gandhiji. In the same way, they want to take the name of India also," he claimed.

The Congress was formed to attain Independence for the country from British rule and Mahatma Gandhi had said that the Congress would come to an end forever after the freedom movement, he said.

"First, they stole the name of Congress, then the name of Gandhi and today INDIA," he said.

The name INDIA was taken to "hide" the "evil deeds" done during the UPA government but it cannot be hidden as "their" history would vociferously talk about their corruption, he claimed.

He praised the approval of the terms of reference of the Krishna tribunal saying that nothing is more important than water to farmers.

Stating that PM Narendra Modi always gives utmost importance to farmers, Mr Choudhary highlighted the Centre's pro-farmer measures, including the hike in agri budget compared to the previous UPA regime, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, provision of nano urea fertiliser and agri infrastructure fund.

Asserting that the fruits of development are reaching common people and that rapid progress is witnessed in highways, infrastructure and other sectors in the country under the Modi regime, he said a nationalistic government should be formed in Telangana.

Strategy Firm Working With Rajasthan Congress Sues Daily For Rs 100 Crore

A political strategy firm that is playing a role in the Congress campaign in Rajasthan has filed a Rs 100-crore defamation case against a newspaper which reported that the results of a survey conducted for the party were sold to the BJP by one of its employees for Rs 20 lakh.

Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in Rajasthan on November 25 and the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government is hoping to buck the trend of the state voting out incumbents after one term. One of the key planks of its re-election strategy is the slew of welfare schemes that it has rolled out.

Political strategy firm DesignBoxed, which has sued the newspaper, worked closely with state Congress president DK Shivakumar during the Karnataka Assembly election in May, which was won convincingly by the party.

In Rajasthan, the company has worked on the political messaging behind the Congress social welfare schemes. It has also carried out surveys and seat assessments and given feedback on political issues on the ground.

Allegations

Earlier this month, there was speculation that the firm had some kind of fallout with Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, and it was claimed that he didn't agree with some aspects of how the firm was helping in the campaign in Rajasthan.

DesignBoxed Director Naresh Arora said the allegations were "imaginary stories" and that vested interests were trying to hurt the Congress' campaign in the state.

"Sections of the media are cooking up imaginary stories of a meeting between me and the honourable RPCC chief Shri Govind Singh Dotasara (sic). I have the utmost respect for him and for Shri Rahul Gandhi.  Vested interests trying to sabotage the Congress campaign before elections will not succeed - a Congress victory in Rajasthan is a foregone conclusion," Mr Arora posted on X, formerly Twitter.

This was followed by allegations that a DesignBoxed employee had sold the results of a survey conducted for the Congress to the BJP.

Mr Arora had taken to social media again to term the allegations "fake news", and asked media houses in Jaipur to take such news with a "big bucket of salt".

Strong Stand

In its defamation case against the newspaper, the firm has alleged that the report was published without seeking its version and has sought an unconditional apology. It has also warned that it will take similar action against any other "fake news" report published about it.

"Hospitals May Become Morgues": Doctors Without Borders On Gaza Situation

Sounding an alarm on the situation in Gaza, Doctors Without Borders has termed it "unprecedented and catastrophic" and warned that there is a very real risk of hospitals turning into morgues because of the lack of essentials like electricity and fuel.

In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, Farhat Mantoo, who is the Executive Director (South Asia) of the medical humanitarian organisation, said circumstances in Gaza have always been challenging but there is such a heavy influx of patients because of the Israel-Hamas war that supplies which usually last them three weeks have been exhausted in just three days.

"We currently have more than 300 doctors and health workers on the ground in Gaza. What I hear from my teams is that the situation is catastrophic, it is unprecedented. Medecins Sans Frontieres has not seen a situation like this anywhere around the world," Ms Mantoo said.

'Most Patients Children, Elderly'

Asked about Israel ordering over a million residents in Gaza to relocate south within 24 hours, she said it needs to be recognised that there is nowhere to go. Pointing out that the small strip of land is home to over 2.2 million people, she said "indiscriminate bombing and violence" has been going on there.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

"Gaza has been impacted already by a 16-year-long blockade and the local health system is stretched and underfunded. Given this unprecedented level of violence, the influx of patients is non-stop in our health facilities. MSF is supporting three hospitals on the ground and we also have a standalone clinic. We treat surgical patients, and burn and trauma victims. We are seeing that most of our patients are children, the elderly or women," Ms Mantoo said.

"Water, fuel and electricity have been cut off. Our health facilities have next to no electricity or fuel, which are essential to run a hospital. Our fear is that, because of this, hospitals will transform into morgues. There are ICUs in the hospitals, people need post-surgical care. We need electricity and fuel for that," she added.

The senior MSF official emphasised that it is impossible for such patients, including those in the ICU, to be moved.

Strikes On Hospitals

Ms Mantoo claimed that "every second building" in Gaza is being flattened. She said one of the buildings next to the MSF office had been hit by an airstrike on Monday and two hospitals supported by them were also hit.

Calling attention to the fact that their teams are exhausted, she said, "Just to illustrate the number of patients we are seeing, supplies that would take three weeks to finish have been exhausted in three days."

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Emphasising that the safety of their staff is a worry, Ms Mantoo urged all parties involved in the conflict to give them safe passage and allow them to bring in humanitarian supplies. She said MSF staff has been used to working in extremely difficult circumstances for many years but the current situation is different from anything they have seen in the past.

Humanitarian Law

"Our staff is working, but their homes have been destroyed. Their families are displaced and even missing in some cases. For us, it is important that our exhausted teams are replaced and we are allowed to bring in emergency teams from outside," she said.

Ms Mantoo appealed to all sides involved in the conflict to respect health facilities, health workers and vehicles. "In the last few days, we have experienced that ambulances have been hit. We want health facilities to be respected. Health should not be a target. We urge all parties to have respect for international humanitarian law."
