Chaleya features Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara pairing up for the first time and we must say their chemistry does not disappoint. Chandrayaan-3 Comes Closer to the Moon After Performing Another Manoeuvre

India's ambitious third Moon mission's spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 on Monday underwent another manoeuvre, bringing it even closer to the Lunar surface, ISRO said.

The national space agency headquartered here said the spacecraft has now achieved a "near-circular orbit" around the moon.

Post its launch on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 entered into the lunar orbit on August 5, following which two orbit reduction manoeuvres were carried out on August 6 and 9.

"Orbit circularisation phase commences. Precise manoeuvre performed today has achieved a near-circular orbit of 150 km x 177 km," ISRO said in a tweet.

The next operation is planned for August 16, around 8:30 am, it said.

As the mission progresses, a series of manoeuvres are being conducted by ISRO to gradually reduce Chandrayaan-3's orbit and position it over the lunar poles.

According to ISRO sources, one more manoeuvre will be performed on the spacecraft on August 16 to reach 100 km orbit, following which the landing module, comprising the lander and rover will break away from the propulsion module.

After this, the lander is expected to undergo a "deboost" (the process of slowing down) and make a soft landing on the south polar region of the Moon on August 23.

Last week, ISRO Chairman S Somnath said the most critical part of the landing is the process of bringing the velocity of the lander from 30 km height to the final landing, and that the ability to transfer the spacecraft from horizontal to vertical direction is the "trick we have to play" here.

He said, "The velocity at the start of the landing process is almost 1.68 km per second, but this speed is horizontal to the surface of the moon. The Chandrayaan 3 here is tilted almost 90 degrees, it has to become vertical. So this whole process of turning from horizontal to vertical is a very interesting calculation mathematically. We have done a lot of simulations. It is here where we had the problem last time (Chandrayaan 2)." Further, it has to be ensured that fuel consumption is less, the distance calculation is correct, and all the algorithms are working properly.

"Extensive simulations have gone, guidance design has been changed, and a lot of algorithms have been put in place to make sure that in all these phases required dispersions are handled....to attempt to make a proper landing," he said.

Over five moves in the three weeks since the July 14 launch, ISRO had lifted the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into orbits farther and farther away from the Earth.

Then, on August 1 in a key manoeuvre -- a slingshot move -- the spacecraft was sent successfully towards the Moon from Earth's orbit. Following this trans-lunar injection, the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft escaped from orbiting the Earth and began following a path that would take it to the vicinity of the moon.

Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.

It comprises an indigenous propulsion module, a lander module, and a rover with the objective of developing and demonstrating new technologies required for inter-planetary missions.

The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover configuration till the 100 km lunar orbit. The propulsion module has a Spectropolarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload to study the spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit.

The mission objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, to demonstrate rover roving on the Moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.

The lander will have the capability to soft land at a specified lunar site and deploy the rover that will carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the Moon's surface during the course of its mobility.

The lander and the rover have scientific payloads to carry out experiments on the lunar surface.

Watch: Tilak Varma Bamboozles Pooran To Bag His 1st International Wicket

It was a disappointing day for Team India as they lost the series-deciding fifth T20I against West Indies on Sunday. The Hardik Pandya led-side had put up a total of 165/9 in 20 overs after opting to bat first. However, the chase turned out to be a cakewalk for the hosts as they went across the line in just 18 overs with eight wickets in hand. Despite ending up on the losing side, this series turned out to be really memorable for young batter Tilak Varma as his all-round talent got exposed during the last match.

After all the bowlers failed to break the deadly partnership between Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran, skipper Hardik handed over the ball to Tilak and the decision paid off.

In the 13th over, Pooran tried to go for a switch hit on Tilak's spinning delivery but failed to time it properly as the ball landed safely into the hands of Hardik, who was placed at the slip. Pooran as well as the on-field umpire were left bamboozled by the quick action and the decision was sent for a DRS review, where the third umpire declared the West Indies wicketkeeper out.

Tilak bowled a total of two overs and conceded 17 runs for one wicket.

West Indies won the five-match series 3-2 with opener Brandon King's swashbuckling 85 not out off 55 balls paving the way for a 18-over cakewalk.

Within 24 hours of producing a batting master class on a featherbed, the Indian batters, save Suryakumar Yadav's scratchy yet effective 61 off 45 balls, posted a sub-par score of 165 for nine after opting to bat on a used track that had become slower.

In reply, India's nemesis Nicholas Pooran (47 not out off 35 balls) looked way more fluent but was overshadowed by opener King as they added 107 runs for the second wicket to put West Indies on course despite three weather-related interruptions.

On Probe Agency Summons, Mamata Banerjee's Advice To Hemant Soren

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has backed her Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent a notice to the Chief Minister.

"What is happening these days? Whichever state has an Opposition Government they are sending either ED or CBI. Just a few moments ago Hemant Soren called me up. He said Didi they have sent a notice to me again. I said, 'You take your tribal brothers and sisters with you. You also show them your strength'. They are doing this with everyone, every opposition party," Mamata Banerjee said.

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress has been belligerent when it comes to agencies under the control of the union government saying that these agencies have been misused to target opposition parties in Opposition-ruled states.

Hemant Soren has also written a strongly worded letter to probe agency, which investigates financial crimes, on the notice sent to him to appear before it a day before Independence Day.

"Your choice of the date of 14 August 2023 does not come as a surprise to the undersigned. You and your political masters are fully aware that being the Chief Minister of the State of Jharkhand, the undersigned is scheduled to hoist the National Flag on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of India on 15 August 2023. Preparations for the Independence day function starts from a week before and 14th August is an important day for the same when many meetings are pre-scheduled," Hemant Soren told the agency in a letter addressed to Assistant Director Deovrat Jha who is based in Ranchi.

"The captioned summons requiring the undersigned to appear before you on 14 August 2023 is deliberate and part of the design to besmirch the reputation not only of the undersigned but also, the democratically elected government of the state of Jharkhand and the people of the State of Jharkhand," Hemant Soren added.

"In fact, Central agencies have been targeting the undersigned for over a year now only because the undersigned is not aligned with the political party which is in power at the Centre," accusing the ED of working at the behest of the BJP which is in power at the centre," Mr Soren said.

70-Year-Old Dies After Robbers Tape Mouth, Tie Limbs At Mumbai Flat: Cops

A 70-year-old woman died and her husband was injured after their mouths were taped and hands tied allegedly by three robbers inside their flat at Tardeo in south Mumbai on Sunday before the accused decamped with gold and other valuables, police said.

The incident took place in Yusuf Manzil building, an official said.

The victims - Surekha Agarwal and her 75-year-old husband Madan Mohan Agarwal - were the only residents of the flat, he said.

"When the couple was stepping out of their flat for a morning walk around 6 am, the three robbers stormed in. They taped the victims' mouths and tied their hands and legs. After that, they decamped with gold ornaments, watches and cash," the official of Tardeo police station said.

After the accused left the place, the woman's husband somehow reached the door of the flat and pressed the alarm button. Later, someone from the housing society rushed to their help, he said.

However, the woman was found unconscious. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead, the police official added.

Watch: Rohit Sharma Visits Tirupati Balaji Temple Ahead Of Asia Cup 2023

India skipper Rohit Sharma visited the Balaji temple in Tirupati with his family ahead of Asia Cup, set to kick off on August 30. A video is going viral on social media in which Rohit could be seen walking towards his car with his wife Ritika Sajdeh following him, carrying daughter Samaira in her arms. Meanwhile, the policemen could be seen clearing the way for the India captain and his family as fans in huge numbers try to get close to Rohit. The fans also took their phones out to capture the moment.

Watch the viral video here:

India's two superstar batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit, haven't played a single T20I for the national team this year. With Hardik Pandya leading the Indian troops in the shortest format, both Kohli and Rohit have been sitting out of the shortest format matches. The situation is the same for some other veterans like Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, etc.

In an interview, Rohit was asked about his and Virat's absence from T20Is, and the India captain gave an answer that left the reporter stumped.

Rohit explained his and other senior players' absence, saying last year too a similar thing happened when the players decided not to play ODIs as there was a T20 World Cup scheduled.

Both Rohit and Virat would be seen next in the Asia Cup which starts at the end of this month. The Asia Cup will give the Indian team a fair idea about the forthcoming World Cup, an event Rohit's men will be keen to win, having last won an ICC trophy 10 years ago.
