Passenger Gives Hungry Traveller Food In Hyderabad Metro, Internet Divided

In a sweet gesture, a woman travelling on Hyderabad metro gave food to a fellow passenger after she heard her complaining to her friends about how hungry she was. The woman, who was moved by the sweet passenger's gesture, took to Reddit to share the same. While a section of people considered the post to be heartwarming, another section said that metro trains do not allow food to be consumed inside the trains and such rules should be adhered to.

A user, who goes by the handle Prudent-Action 3511 took to the platform and said, “I was going home from Raidurg in metro and started complaining to my friends about how hungry I was. We were joking about it nd I even pointed out someone's juice bottle in their bag nd joked about simply stealing it, they weren't looking at me so I was safe anyway.”

She added that a “nice lady”, who was sitting beside them asked if they were hungry. “Then she says she has pulihora that she had for lunch but left over, she said it's still good tho. And then other box is half full with pomegranates and asks if we want it,” she added. The user added that she was hesitant at first but took the pomegranates and ate them.

Within two minutes, the “nice lady” got up to leave at her stop and told her fellow passenger that she “could keep the box”. She continued on Reddit, “I knew how important boxes are for us women(learnt from mom loll) so I just took how much ever I could fit into my hand and returned it to her. She insisted I keep it but I still thanked her and gave it back.”

Concluding the post, the woman said that she was “so sweet” and her gesture “literally made my day!” She added, “I hope we all do random acts of kindness like this. Increases our hope in humanity.”

Since being shared yesterday, her post has 99 per cent upvotes. Although many people appreciated the random act of kindness, some pointed out that the woman was breaking the rules.

“Protect this lady at all costs,” said a user.

“Need more ppl like this and more posts like this,” added another person.

Another person said, “We should start sub called ‘wholesome Hyderabad' something of that sort. And post such things.”

“Why is no one noticing that we are not supposed to eat in the metro? It's a high footfall service and spillage is a pain to to clean,” remarked a person.

“Is it allowed to eat inside metro trains?” questioned a person.

Listen To Indian Muslims' "Mann Ki Baat": Jama Masjid Shahi Imam To PM

Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Friday expressed concerns over the "storm of hatred" in the country, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to the 'Mann Ki Baat' of Muslims.

Citing recent incidents like the Nuh riots and the killing of four persons by a railway police jawan on a running train, Ahmed Bukhari suggested in his Friday sermon at the historic mosque that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah hold dialogue with intellectuals from the community.

"I have been compelled to speak due to the existing situation in the country. The situation in the country is worrisome and a storm of hatred is posing grave danger to peace in the country," Ahmed Bukhari said.

"You say your 'Mann Ki Baat' but you also need to listen to the 'Mann Ki Baat' of Muslims. The Muslims are troubled due to the prevailing conditions and worried about their future," Ahmed Bukhari said, referring to PM Modi's monthly radio programme.

The Imam of Jama Masjid alleged the law is proving to be "weak" in dealing with hate and communal violence.

"The people of one faith are being openly threatened. Panchayats are being held where boycott calls for Muslims and ending trade and business with them was proclaimed. There are 57 Islamic countries in the world where non-Muslims also live but do not face any threat to their lives or livelihood," Ahmed Bukhari said.

He lamented that the "relationship" between the Hindus and Muslims were "endangered". "Why this hatred in India? Was the freedom won by our ancestors for this day? Will the Hindus and Muslims now live separately?." Ahmed Bukhari said it's in the hands of the government to control the situation.

"I want to say to the prime minister and the home minister to be generous and talk to the Muslim intellectuals. I want to ask you on behalf of the Muslims of the country to talk to us, we are ready," he said.

Ahmed Bukhari suggested the Centre could hold a meeting with the members of Muslim community to "save the country" from the prevailing "storm of hatred".

"Khaata Nahi Khulega": Yogi Adityanath's 2024 Forecast For Samajwadi Party

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday took a swipe at the Samajwadi Party (SP), saying that the party will not be able to get a single seat in the general elections in 2024.

Speaking in the state assembly, Yogi Adityanath slammed the SP saying that the people of the state are just a ‘vote bank' for the Opposition, but for the BJP, they are like a family.

“Within the state, 10 crore people are benefiting from Ayushman Bharat; it may be a caste issue for you, or it may be a vote bank issue. For us, the citizen of UP is a part of the family. We inherited a dilapidated system; it will undoubtedly take time to improve it, but the crowd gathered there indicates that people's trust in this system has grown. The facilities have improved over time,” Yogi Adityanath said.

“The public did not trust you, which is why they rejected you....People didn't vote for you, they rejected you once again....2024 mein khaata bhi nahi khulne wala," he added.

He said that Encephalitis claimed the lives of 50,000 children in Eastern Uttar Pradesh over a span of 40 years.

“The Samajwadi Party (SP) had the opportunity to govern the state four times. It is alarming to note that 90 per cent of the deceased children came from Dalits, minorities, and the most backward castes. Was there no ‘PDA' (pichde, Dalit and alpashankhak) here? What were your chief ministers doing then? And you also got a chance of five years,” he said.

He said that his government has completely eradicated encephalitis in its first term. Encephalitis is no longer present in Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Siddharth Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti, Gonda, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, and Saharanpur.

More Nations Including Japan, Few From West, Interested In UPI: RBI

The Reserve Bank on Thursday said the internationalization of the unified payments interface (UPI) system is a work in progress as it works towards linking it with more and more overseas counterparts, including some in the West and Japan.

On February 21, 2023, the RBI announced the first linkage of UPI by integrating it with Singapore's Paynow, paving the way for faster and more transparent remittances between the two countries.

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das launched the new linkage in association with his Singaporean counterpart Ravi Menon, who is the managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Announcing the third monetary policy review, Governor Shaktikanta Das said the RBI was planning to use artificial intelligence in UPI payments and also to deploy near-field communication (NFC) technology to be used in offline payments in UPI-Lite.

It also enhanced the transaction limit for small-value digital payments to Rs 500 from Rs 200 on UPI Lite.

On UPI linkages with more countries, the deputy governor T Rabi Shankar told reporters that "such integration has already been done with Singapore. And recently we signed an agreement with the UAE's payment system Integrated Payment Platform (IPP) to link UPI with their payment system.

"It is a work in progress and it will happen in the coming months and discussions are underway with a few other countries also for linking their payment systems with ours, including some advanced economies which have evinced interest in linking to UPI," he said.

Governor Das chipped in saying "UPI has now become internationally recognised. I am not saying it myself, but it is recognised very widely, and that it is perhaps the most efficient and advanced payment system in the world.

"At the recent G20 finance ministers and governors meeting, UPI was widely recognised. So this is a work in progress. We are already in discussion with a few other countries and it will happen soon." To a question from a Japanese journalist whether some officials from the world's third-largest economy has contacted RBI for UPI linkage, Shankar answered in the affirmative saying a Japanese minister has contacted us.

"We are happy that a country like Japan which is an advanced economy, is showing interest in the UPI. Currently, it is only at an intention stage as the contact was mostly exploratory level. NPCI is talking to the relevant Japanese agencies," the deputy governor said.

AK Goel, the chairman of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) said more user-friendly measures for UPI by way of conversational payments in UPI and further promoting the UPI-Lite by facilitating offline transactions using near field communication are expected to widen the coverage of UPI.

Dhawan Announces His Choice For India's No. 4 Batter As World Cup Looms

With question marks over the fitness of Shreyas Iyer, the number four position in the Indian ODI set-up is up for grabs ahead of the World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson are the contenders while R Ashwin thinks rookie batter Tilak Varma can be a good choice at that position. "I would go with Surya at four as he is an experienced player and has been playing international cricket for a while," veteran India Shikhar Dhawan told PTI.

"Also, really looking forward to see how Shubman Gill does in the World Cup. Another batter to watch out for will be Rohit Sharma as he did exceptionally well in the last World Cup," he said referring to Rohit's five hundreds in the 2019 edition."

On India's chances in the World Cup, he added, "We have got a very good side which has the right blend of experience and youth. We will have the home advantage. We know the grounds and pitches and that is going to come in very handy."

As he is not part of the Indian team anymore, Dhawan has a lot more time at his disposal. Besides working on his game and fitness, he spends a lot of time on his varied commercial ventures, which fall under the Da One Group umbrella.

"It is important to be productive. We live quite a high-paced life, especially when you are playing all formats like I used to at one point. Now I have enough time, so I keep myself involved with my business interests.

3 Dead After Eating Wild Mushrooms Served By Daughter-In-Law In Australia

About two Saturdays ago, a group of five people gathered for a family meal in a small Australian town. After a week, three of them died, the fourth is critically ill and the fifth is under investigation for potentially poisoning her guests with wild mushrooms, according to a BBC report.

However, the 48-year-old woman says that she has no clue about what happened, emphasized her love for her family and denied any intention to hurt them. The case is being investigated by homicide detectives.

The police interviewed the woman named Erin Patterson, who cooked the meal at her home on July 29 but didn't become ill herself. Police released her without filing any charges but say she remains a suspect, according to CBS News.

The case has captured national attention and has left the police puzzled.

According to the media outlet, the unusual tale began when Gail and Don Patterson stopped for lunch at their daughter-in-law Erin Patterson's home in Leongatha- a two-hour drive southeast of Melbourne. Wilkinsons and Heather, Gail's sister also joined in.

Soon after lunch, all four guests were rushed to the hospital with what they first believed was severe gastro. They were then transferred to a hospital in Melbourne to receive the best medical care but that did not help.

Heather, 66, and Gail, 70, died on Friday, and Don, 70, on Saturday, reported BBC, Ian, 68, remains in critical condition in hospital, awaiting a liver transplant.

According to a news release, the Victoria Police Homicide Squad said that four people were hospitalized after eating a meal at a private home in Leongatha, a city in southeast Australia, on July 29. At the time, police said that two women, ages 66 and 70, and one man, 70, died following the incident. The fourth person, a 68-year-old man, is still hospitalized.

During a Monday press conference, Inspector Dean Thomas said that two children were also present for the luncheon, but were not sickened, according to 9 News Australia. The inspector added that police believe the children were served a different meal than the dead.

The inspector informed that the children were "temporarily" removed from the home as a precaution.

"At this point in time, the deaths are unexplained," Mr Thomas said.
