iPhone 15 Series Said to Launch a Day Earlier Than Previously Reported

iPhone 15 series launch could take place in the third week of September. The exact date or event is yet to be officially confirmed by Apple, but a new tweet from Mark Gurman suggests that this year's iPhone models will go official a day earlier than previously reported. Apple's annual iPhone launch event was earlier speculated to take place on Wednesday, September 13. Pre-orders for the new iPhone units, expected to comprise— iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max — are said to start on September 22.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman tweeted that the iPhone 15 series launch will mostly take place on Tuesday, September 12. He says that “signs are increasingly pointing to September 12.” Gurman previously claimed that the event would happen either on September 12 or September 13. The new iPhone 15 models are expected to go on sale one week later on September 22.

Gurman further suggests that Apple's event will follow a hybrid format with recorded video like last year's iPhone 14 event. The iPhone 14 series was released during Apple's ‘Far Out' event on September 7. The pre-orders for last year's iPhone models began on September 9.

Apple is yet to confirm the iPhone 15 series officially. It is, therefore, safe to consider the reported details with a pinch of salt.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to come with a number of upgrades over last year's iPhone 14 models. Firstly, the are expected to include a USB Type-C port. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could all sport the Dynamic Island feature, which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Moreover, the iPhone 15 Pro models could run on the Apple A17 Bionic SoC, whereas the regular iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus could get the A16 Bionic chip. The iPhone 15 Pro models could include only 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM. They are said to pack 256GB storage in the base model and offer up to 2TB on the top-end variant. The iPhone 15 Pro Max could include a periscope telephoto lens for better zoom.

North Korea's Kim Jong Un Dismisses Top General, Calls For War Preparations

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un dismissed the military's top general and called for more preparations for the possibility of war, a boost in weapons production, and expansion of military drills, state media KCNA reported on Thursday.

Kim made the comments at a meeting of the Central Military Commission which discussed plans for countermeasures to deter North Korea's enemies, which it did not name, the report said.

General Ri Yong Gil was named to replace the military's top general, chief of the General Staff Pak Su Il, KCNA reported, without elaborating. It was unclear if Ri would retain his role as defence minister.

Kim also set a target for the expansion of weapons production capacity, the report said, without providing details. Last week he visited weapons factories where he called for more missile engines, artillery and other weapons to be built.

Photos released by KCNA showed Kim pointing at Seoul and areas surrounding the South Korean capital on a map.

The United States has accused North Korea of providing arms to Russia for its war in Ukraine, including artillery shells, rockets and missiles. Russia and North Korea have denied those claims.

Kim also called for the military to conduct drills with the country's latest weapons and equipment to keep its forces ready for combat, the report said.

North Korea is set to stage a militia parade on Sept. 9, marking the 75th anniversary of the Day of the Foundation of the Republic. North Korea has a number of paramilitary groups it uses to bolster its military forces.

The U.S. and South Korea are scheduled to hold military drills between Aug. 21 and 24, which the North sees as a threat to its security.

Pak President Dissolves National Assembly On PM Shehbaz Sharif's Advice

Pakistan President Arif Alvi dissolved the National Assembly on Wednesday on outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's advice, marking an end to the current government's tenure and paving the way for next general elections.

The notification for the dissolution of the assembly was issued by the Aiwan-i-Sadr, which said the National Assembly was dissolved under Article 58 of the Constitution.

Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif on Wednesday wrote to President Alvi and sought dissolution of the National Assembly three days before the end of its five-year constitutional term.

President Arif Alvi dissolved the National Assembly at midnight on Wednesday at outgoing Prime Minister Sharif's advice, the Dawn newspaper reported.

With the dissolution of the lower house, the current government's tenure will also end prematurely.

Later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi said in a statement that "the elected government has completed its five-year term", and his ministry had forwarded the summary for the dissolution of the assembly to the prime minister under Article 58 of the Constitution.

Earlier on Thursday, the prime minister also chaired the final meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.

In his farewell address at the National Assembly on Wednesday, Sharif said: "Tonight, with the permission of the House, I will send the advice for the dissolution of the National Assembly to the president." The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition government would have liked to remain in power for a couple of more days and dissolve Parliament on August 11 but it believes that President Alvi, a former leader of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, might refuse to issue a notification immediately for the dissolution.

The advice from Prime Minister Sharif for the dissolution was sent to President Alvi three days before the term of the lower house of Parliament expires. President Alvi could have delayed it for 48 hours and after that it would have stood dissolved.

Since the assembly has been dissolved before time, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would hold elections within 90 days. If the National Assembly had completed its constitutional term, the polls would have been held within 60 days, but in case of dissolution before time, the elections should be held within 90 days.

The polls are expected to be delayed for a couple of months as new census results have been approved, which makes it a constitutional obligation to carry out delimitation before elections.

The ECP is bound to carry out delimitation within 120 days and then announce the election schedule.

Though it is technically possible to expedite the process and determine delimitation of constituencies in minimum time and then go for elections within 90 days, it is not clear if the ECP would follow the deadline as it has a valid reason to overshoot the deadline.

"On the completion of the incumbent government's term, I would send a summary to the President of Pakistan for dissolution of the National Assembly by Wednesday (and then an interim government will take over," Prime Minister Sharif said on Tuesday while addressing a ceremony.

The outgoing assembly was the 15th National Assembly which began its five-year journey on August 13, 2018, with the election of a speaker and deputy speaker. The assembly was elected after an election held on July 25, 2018.

After the dissolution of the National Assembly, a process to appoint a caretaker prime minister will begin under Article 224-A of the Constitution.

Prime Minister Sharif and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz will hold consultations to finalise the name of the interim prime minister.

If they failed to agree on the name within three days, the matter will go to the parliamentary committee for the appointment of caretaker prime minister.

Under the law, the premier and the opposition leader will send their respective names for the coveted post to the parliamentary committee.

The parliamentary committee will have to finalise the name of the caretaker prime minister within three days or if it too failed to reach a consensus on the name, then the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will pick the caretaker prime minister within two days from the names proposed by the opposition and the government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PTI core committee decided to commemorate the day, as the 16-month tenure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government ends tonight.

The PTI has decided to put forth a detailed analysis of the "devastation" caused by the PDM-led incompetent government before the nation, read the statement.

Watch: With India Needing 12 Runs, Pandya's Pep-talk Charges Up Tilak

Facing a must-win situation in the third T20I against West Indies on Tuesday, the Indian cricket team came out all guns blazing to register a big victory and keep the series alive. Performances from Tilak Varma, Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav helped India seal the deal. Varma grabbed everyone's attention as he slammed 49* off 37 balls and stitched important stands with Suryakumar (83) and captain Hardik Pandya (20*). Varma has been a great performer in the T20Is for Mumbai Indians as well. His attacking play against the best of bowlers has been widely appreciated.

Player like Ravichandran Ashwin has also hinted that Varma can be an answer to India's contingency plans for the ODI World Cup. "This is neck-and-neck with respect to the World Cup. So, will they think about Tilak Varma as an option if we don't have enough backups? Because Sanju Samson has performed really well in ODIs. But the exciting part about Tilak Varma is that he is a left-hander and Team India is lacking left-handers. Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) is the only left-handed batter in the top 7," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Even Pandya is also appreciative of  Varma's potential. During the third T20I, Pandya could be heard giving pep-talk to Varma, when he was batting on 44 off 32 balls and India needed 12 off 23. "Tereko especially khatam karna hai, rukna hai. Gendo ka fark padta hai (You have to stay there and finish the game. The number of balls faced makes a difference," Hardik Pandya was heard saying in the stump-mic.

Meanwhile, the Indian opening duo of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan achieved career-best rankings in the latest ODI list released on Wednesday, less than two months from the start of the 50-over World Cup in the country. Gill climbed two spots to be fifth overall and be within touching distance of Pakistani trio of Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq.

While Pakistan skipper Babar remains well in front, Gill rose to 743 rating points on the back of his excellent series against the West Indies and has third-placed Zaman (755) and fourth-placed Imam-ul-Haq (745) well within his sight.

Kishan too earned a new career-best rating after jumping nine places to 36th overall, while Hardik Pandya improved 10 places to be placed 71st in the batting chart following his efforts against the West Indies.

Cop Can't Fill In For A Collector: Congress After Amit Shah Speech

Union Home Minister 2-plus hour speech in parliament today -- one of the longest -- does not appear to have satisfied the opposition. The Congress, in particular, appeared to be in no mood to back off from the demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the House on the Manipur situation. The party's stance became clear with a quip from Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, its leader in the Lok Sabha, shortly after Mr Shah's speech.

"We have been demanding a discussion (on Manipur) since Day One, not today," Mr Chowdhury said.

"We have been asking for the Prime Minister to come to parliament and begin the discussion. We never said that we doubt the competence of Home minister Amit Shah. But I'd say this much -- how can a policeman answer a query that should be answered by the District Collector," he added amid loud guffaws from opposition leaders.

Mr Shah had devoted a chunk of his time to Manipur, slamming the Opposition for bringing the No-Confidence Motion against the government and Congress's Rahul Gandhi for "creating drama" during his visit to Manipur. He also outlined the Centre's efforts to bring peace to the violence-hit state.

He, however, ruled out the possibility of removing the state government and declaring President's Rule.

President's Rule is "imposed when the state government does not cooperate, but the Manipur government did, the Chief Minister is cooperating," he said.

It brought a sharp retort from the Opposition. Congress's Gaurav Gogoi, who had opened the debate yesterday, told news agency ANI: "60,000 people are living in shelter camps, and they (the Centre) are saying that the Chief Minister is cooperating. Don't want such kind of cooperation, the Prime Minister should remove the Chief Minister on moral grounds."

"Is this the kind of cooperation being extended by Manipur CM (to the Centre) where arms have been looted from police stations? Home Department and the CM don't have the courage to accept their mistake," he added.

The Opposition, which brought the motion, is aware of the numbers being overwhelmingly in favour of the government.

Opening the debate yesterday, Congress's Gaurav Gogoi had admitted that the No-Confidence motion was brought to compel the Prime Minister to speak on Manipur -- a demand that the government was not ready to accept.

PM Modi will respond to the debate tomorrow. It is not certain that he will speak on the Manipur, where more than 150 people have died since ethnic violence started in early May.

Social Media Star Lil Tay Dies Aged 14

Viral teen influencer and rapper Lil Tay, whose real name was Claire Hope, has died at the age of 14, the Independent reported. The teenager became an internet sensation in 2018 through viral videos where she played a character of a young rich girl, often seen flexing money and expensive vehicles.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire's sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock,'' reads a statement shared on Ms. Tay's Instagram account on Wednesday.

The statement also mentioned the recent passing of the influencer's older brother, adding that the deaths are ''still under investigation.'' The date and cause of her death has not yet been revealed.

See the post here:

''During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's passing are still under investigation,'' the statement further read.

Lil Tay was originally from Canada but moved to Los Angeles. She first rose to fame in 2018 after she began posting controversial videos on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube which showed her cussing, flashing stacks of cash and even starting fights.

She amassed a huge social media following of over 3.3 million people on Instagram. However, she hasn't used the app in five years. She was also a rapper who claimed to have started writing music at the age of seven, as per Metro.

In May 2018, Lil Tay talked about her controversial videos in an interview with Good Morning America.

''People think it's funny, I guess, 'cause I'm nine years old and I've accomplished so much. I'm the youngest flexer. I can do anything I like. If they don't believe me, I don't care,” she said.

"I Know He Is Going To Hear This And...": Hardik Dares West Indies Star

Having seen his captaincy come in the line of fire, Hardik Pandya got the team to click in the third T20I against West Indies, helping the tourists pull one back after losing the first two matches to the hosts. India's batting unit has courted the most criticism, especially for its long tail. But, Hardik, on Tuesday, made it clear that his team will continue to play with seven batters as he doesn't want to compromise on the bowling front. As far as Team India's strategy for the 3rd T20I is concerned, Hardik was spot on, especially with regards to the handling of an in-form Nicholas Pooran.

"Very important (to win). We spoke as a group that these three games will be exciting. Two losses or two wins does not change the long term plans. We have to show we are ready when it comes to such (must-win) games.

"Nicky (Pooran) didn't come out to bat and that allowed us to keep our pacers back, also allowed Axar to bowl his four overs. If Nicky wants to hit, let him hit me and that was the plan, I enjoy such competition. I know he is going to hear this and will come hard at me in the fourth T20I," said the India skipper at the post-match presentation ceremony.

India's long tail was questioned after the loss in the first two games of the five-match series against West Indies.

Speaking after India's seven-wicket win in the third T20, Hardik said seven batting options are enough in the playing eleven.

"As a group we have decided to bat with seven batters and we have to take responsibility, like it happened today if the batters score runs then you don't need someone at number eight," said the skipper.

Hardik also heaped praise on his deputy Suryakumar Yadav for his match-winning 83 off 44 balls.

"As Surya mentioned, they (SKY and Tilak Varma) play together and spend time together, good to have someone like SKY in the team and when he takes responsibility it sends a message to the others," said Hardik.

Tilak Varma, playing his debut series, remained unbeaten on 49 off 37 balls as India chased down 160 with 13 balls to spare.
