Video: Gas Cylinders Flung In Air After Speeding Car Rams Cart In Delhi

Several gas cylinders were tossed in the air after a speeding car hit an LPG cyliner supplier's cart in Delhi, a shocking CCTV footage of the incident showed. The man behind the wheel, a minor, allegedly hit a 6-year-old girl before ramming the cylinder cart.

The impact of the collision stopped the car after which locals caught the driver and informed the police. The accident happened in in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area on Monday, police said.

The speeding car while passing by a school first hit the girl from the side. The car then took a right turn and hit the cylinder-laden cart from behind.

The injured cylinder supplier Ram Kumar was shifted to Jahangirpuri's BJRM Hospital. The girl was under treatment at Shalimar Bagh's Jhamb Multi Specility Hospital. Both the injured have been discharged now.

During investigation, the age of the driver was found to be 17 years. He lives in Singhalpur village and works in a private company, the police said.

The police have given a notice to the vehicle owner and called him to join the investigation.

We will file a case under the Motor Vehicles Act and other sections based on the statement of the victims, police said.

NASA Reveals First Image Of Missing Space Tomatoes Found After 8 Months

Space agency NASA took to YouTube on Friday to share fascinating footage of what two tiny tomatoes looked like after they were lost in space in 2022. Notably, Astronaut Frank Rubio Rubio had accidentally lost the fruits while harvesting for the eXposed Root On-Orbit Test System (XROOTS) experiment, a soil-less plant experiment. Other astronauts had joked that maybe Mr Rubio had eaten the tomatoes. However, the two space-grown fruits which had been missing for eight months were recently found by the ISS crew, bringing an end to the light-hearted mystery.

The space agency revealed that the tomatoes were ''dehydrated and slightly squashed with some discolouration but without any visible microbial or fungal growth.''

''Two rogue tomatoes have been recovered nearly a year after astronaut Frank Rubio accidentally lost track of them while harvesting for the XROOTS experiment, proving Rubio did not eat the tomatoes as they previously suspected. The rogue fruit was found in a plastic bag dehydrated and slightly squished with some discoloration but with no visible microbial or fungal growth,'' the video was captioned.

''XROOTS uses hydroponic and aeroponic techniques to grow plants without soil or other growth media. Current plant systems may not scale well in a space environment due to mass, maintenance, and sanitation issues. XROOT's soil-less techniques could provide suitable solutions for plant systems needed for future space exploration missions,'' NASA added.

Watch the video here:

According to NASA, the tomatoes were grown without soil using hydroponic and aeroponic nourishing techniques to demonstrate space agricultural methods to sustain crews on long-term space flights farther away from Earth, where resupply missions become impossible.

''The benefits of growing plants in space don't stop there, astronauts report there are psychological benefits to time spent gardening, increasing their quality of life in space, and boosting their morale. Research aboard the space station is advancing the technology and scientific knowledge needed to successfully grow plants in space and help humans push the boundaries of space travel,'' NASA said in a blog post.

Hamas Must Review All Its Policies Once War Ends: Top Palestinian Official

Immediately after Israel's war in Gaza ends, all Palestinian factions including Hamas must take a serious look at the failure of their policies to achieve freedom for their people, a top Palestinian Authority official said.

Hussein al-Sheikh, 63, said war in Gaza after the Oct. 7 attacks on southern Israel meant Hamas should make a "serious and honest assessment and reconsider all its policies and all its methods" once fighting subsides.

Hamas' attacks killed 1,200 Israelis, triggering a relentless bombardment and ground war that has killed at least 19,000 Palestinians, displaced hundreds of thousands and left much of the enclave in ruins.

Hussein al-Sheikh, the general secretary of President Mahmoud Abbas's Palestinian Liberation Organization, is seen by some as a potential successor. His comments were the first time a senior PLO leader has talked publicly about Hamas tactics since the Oct. 7 attacks.

Hussein al-Sheikh also acknowledged the political path under Oslo peace accords was faltering and as it currently stands would not achieve the ambition of the Palestinian people for the establishment of a Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders.

Hussein al-Sheikh and Abbas met senior White House aide Jake Sullivan in Ramallah on Friday. The Palestinians told him a new international effort was needed to persuade Israel of a comprehensive solution that includes the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, Hussein al-Sheikh told Reuters.

"There must be a single Palestinian government governing the Palestinian homeland," Hussein al-Sheikh told Reuters on Saturday in a rare interview in sleek offices adorned with portraits Abbas and his predecessor Yasser Arafat in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The West Bank is divided by an Israeli wall and fence that snakes hundreds of miles across the hills. Jewish settlers, many of whom cite Biblical ties to the land, have in recent years expanded construction in areas that would become a future Palestinian state. Most countries deem Jewish settlements built on land Israel seized in the 1967 Middle East war as illegal.

Despite offering welcome verbal backing for a Palestinian state in the meetings, Hussein al-Sheikh said, Washington had not proposed concrete mechanisms or political initiatives. He reiterated a call by Abbas for an international peace conference to forge a new route.

A senior U.S. official said this week the idea of a conference had been discussed with partners, but the proposal was still at a preliminary stage.

LEGITIMATE REPRESENTATIVE

U.S. President Joe Biden has sent a series of top officials to the West Bank to meet Abbas and Hussein al-Sheikh, seeking to revamp the moribund Palestinian Authority to take charge of Gaza once the war is over and unify the administration of the enclave and the West Bank.

Visiting U.S. officials have discussed the need for reforms to combat corruption, hand over broader executive powers to the prime minister and introduce new blood into the Palestinian Authority.

Despite the U.S. efforts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that he would not allow the Palestinian Authority to run Gaza after the war and suggested Israel would occupy it instead.

Hussein al-Sheikh said the Palestinian Authority was the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and would be ready to take control of Gaza after the war.

However, he recognised that the unpopular Palestinian Authority, which many Palestinians see as corrupt, undemocratic and out of touch, needed to reassess its role. Hamas by contrast has grown in popularity since the attacks, both in Gaza and the West Bank, a Palestinian poll showed this week.

Referring to Hamas, which has fought five wars against Israel since 2008, Hussein al-Sheikh said "it is not acceptable for some to believe that their method and approach in managing the conflict with Israel was the ideal and the best.

"After all this (killing) and after everything that's happening, isn't it worth making a serious, honest and responsible assessment to protect our people and our Palestinian cause?

"Isn't it worth discussing how to manage this conflict with the Israeli occupation?"

Hussein al-Sheikh said 60% of Gaza was destroyed and it would cost $40 billion to rebuild over decades.

The 1993 Oslo peace accords with Israel were partially successful, he said, in that they gave Palestinians an identity and led to the repatriation of two million refugees to the West Bank and Gaza from countries they fled to during the 1948 and 1967 wars with Israel.

He said the PA has been weakened by Israel's military raids and expansion of settlements.

Abbas promoted Hussein al-Sheikh last year. His new role effectively makes him the second most powerful man in the PLO, an umbrella for non-Islamist Palestinian factions that does not include Hamas.

He is deeply unpopular among Palestinians partly thanks to his liaison role with the occupying Israeli military. Opinion polls give him about 3% support.

In response to a request for comment, Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said Hussein al-Sheikh was "on the side of the Israeli civil administration, and him attacking the Palestinian resistance isn't surprising".

Hussein al-Sheikh said it was his job to work with Israel to reduce the suffering of Palestinians.

"Anti-National Narratives Like Covid, Must Be Neutralised": Vice President

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday described "anti-national narratives" as the Covid virus and said they have to be neutralised.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of 8th three-day international seminar on 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam: Shrimad Bhagwadgita & Global Unity' organised by Kurukshetra University and Kurukshetra Development Board. The event was organised here as part of the ongoing International Gita Festival.

Dhankhar said either in a planned way or due to lack of understanding, a few people "take pleasure in floating anti-national narratives".

"It should not happen. You should oppose it (such narratives). It is like Covid virus that has to be neutralised," he said.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand, and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi were also present at the event.

The philosophy of Gita is the bedrock of Indian civilisation, its culture and in the present times the soul of India's governance with an emphasis on objectivity, transparency, equity and commitment to universal brotherhood, said the vice president.

He said today India is making rapid progress in varied fields.

"..We are a world power, we stand for peace, we stand for global stability. We want to take our Bharat in 2047 at peak when we will be into centenary celebration of our Independence," he said.

Referring to the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflict, Dhankhar said, "After the World War II, the world has not seen this much pain as it is seeing today." "We are virtually sitting on a volcano. World's two 'configurations' -- one Israel-Hamas and another Ukraine-Russia -- are well known," he said, while adding Gita's philosophy is as relevant today as never before.

"And India's Prime Minister has made two historic statements in the past. First one was nearly one-and-a-half years back that 'we are not living in an era of expansion'. In saying so, the PM took pride this country never in its history has thought of expansion. We have suffered invasions, incursions of all kinds, but we have never believed in expansion policy," he said.

When there were two big issues before the world, PM Modi taking guidance from the Gita said that every possible effort should be made to avoid war, through dialogue and diplomacy, Dhankhar said.

Making a reference to the Mahabharat era, he said no effort was spared by Lord Krishna to ensure that there be no war. "But once this becomes inevitable, even then Lord Krishna gave 'gyan' to Arjuna which we need to ponder upon today," he said.

Lord Krishna told Arjuna never to leave path of duty...and "today PM Modi is doing so", he said.

Dhankhar also praised Chief Minister Khattar and described him as a "true follower" of the Gita.

The vice president said that while Khattar's identity as a chief minister is endearing to the people, he is known for transparency, fairness and accountability.

Speaking on the occasion, Khattar said the Gita is not just a book or scripture, it is the "essence of life, Gita is universal and eternal".

Dhankhar emphasized the alignment of the Central government with the principles of "Gita governance".

He applauded Prime Minister Modi's commitment to righteousness and duty, citing the importance of performing duties without attachment to the results, as advocated in the Gita.

Dhankhar said the fundamental of democracy is that all are equal before law.

"Earlier some people thought they are above law. But a big change happened and today no one is outside the ambit of law, this is the ground reality. I can assure you to achieve this is not easy. It was a formidable challenge, challenge from those who were established, those who had a great support system -- in the system and outside. But today we can hold our head high and say Gita governance is there and all are equal before law," he said.

Without naming anyone, the vice president said if one gets notice as per law, the procedure under law should be followed.

But the new culture that "we will take to roads if we get notice as per law" is not what Gita taught us, he asserted.

Dhankhar, along with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, also visited the Assam Pavilion at the event here.

He said India is poised to be the third largest economy in the world by 2030.

Dhankhar also said that the Gita gives "solutions to all problems and teaches us inclusivity".

He urged every citizen to contribute to India's development, terming 'Amrit Kaal' as the "golden era" for the country, and set a goal to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.

Salesman Convinces Man To Spend Rs 20,000 In 15 Mins. But There's A Twist

A man who entered a store in Gurugram in search of one office bag ended up buying multiple bags for Rs 20,000 in just 15 minutes, all thanks to a persuasive salesperson who surprisingly turned out to be a co-founder of the company. Taking to LinkedIn, Pranay Loya shared about his encounter with Pankaj Garg, the co-founder of DailyObjects, a prominent Indian tech accessories and lifestyle brand. In his post, he revealed that he entered the DailyObjects store at Cyberhub to buy a simple office bag. However, little did he know that the salesman assisting him was not an ordinary employee but the co-founder of the company.

"A salesman convinced me to spend Rs 20,000 in just 15 minutes! As I entered the store in Cyberhub, Gurgaon, searching for an office bag, I couldn't help but notice the salesman's dedication. Jokingly, I said, 'Aap ye product toh aise bech rahe ho jaise apki company hai!' (You are selling products as if it is your company). Until one of the guys pointed out that the salesman was no ordinary employee," Mr Pranay said.

Mr Pranay revealed that the salesman was "Pankaj Garg, the co-founder of DailyObjects, an Indian tech accessories and lifestyle brand with over Rs 100 crore in annual revenue". "It was a bit awkward," he wrote.

But despite the awkward realisation, Mr Pranay said that the co-founder continued to showcase various products with genuine enthusiasm, revealing some fascinating aspects of his entrepreneurial journey. "During the conversation, he told me that: He has traveled all across India and over 25+ countries to get trends & design inspiration. Collaborated with over 500+ craftsmen. Served over 2.5+ million customers," Mr Pranay wrote.

"The passion to sell, the hunger to grow, and the vision to be the best could be seen in his eyes," the LinkedIn user said.

Further, he revealed that while leaving the store with a Rs 20,000 bill and multiple bags, he reflected on more than just a purchase. "Unwavering passion and commitment had turned a routine shopping trip into a memorable encounter with entrepreneurship. I love being in Gurgaon. You bump into celebrities and startup founders randomly at unexpected places!" Mr Pranay concluded his post.

Shared just three days back, Mr Pranay's post has gone viral on social media. It has accumulated numerous likes and comments. Social media users were quite impressed with the story.

"I love DailyObjects. I've received so many compliments for my bag & I don't know what is with their products, you just can't stop buying after one or two," wrote one user. "Founder knows the value of customers," expressed another.

"Whether It Is An Officer's Son...": Minister On Woman Hit By Lover's Car

Reacting to the Thane incident, wherein a woman was allegedly run over by her boyfriend's car in the middle of a road, Maharashtra Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the accused in the matter will have to face the whip of law even if he is the son of an officer or a big leader.

Speaking to ANI on the incident in Chandrapur, Mungantiwar said, "Whether it is an officer's son or some big leader's son, he will have to bear the whip of the law and Constitution. No matter who it is, if they have committed this crime, then they would be punished."

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also reacted to the case and said, "The incident not only brings goosebumps to a person but also exposes many people who are in authority. The accused, who has committed the heinous crime, is the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha and his father is a very senior bureaucrat in Thane district."

"The government talks about women's safety but it is actually the work that is done that really matters and that kind of work for women is not seen in Maharashtra," Chaturvedi added.

"This is a very unfortunate incident and I want to question the BJP about how the party could place responsibilities on such people who are so "Mahila Virodhi," asserted Chaturvedi.

"Does the Mahila Bachao-Mahila Badhao programme of the BJP give this message when there are incidents such as the women's protest or this recent Thane incident? she stated.

BJP leader Narayan Rane said, "Today the opposition is saying that law and order has deteriorated in Maharashtra. My question is that both Disha Salian and Sushant Singh were murdered during their time, was there law and order at that time?

"Today, when a woman is run over by a vehicle, then it is wrong to say that law and order are not good. They have no other topic. Our government is doing good work in Maharashtra. If a case is registered, he will be arrested. After an investigation, the police will arrest him," Rane added.

Congress leader Tariq Anwar also condemned the incident and said, "It is very sad that in our society, the way of thinking has still not changed, especially in cases like this, where love is involved. Many children commit suicide, murder, and other such crimes in matters like these. In my opinion, this is a social evil that needs to be cured."

A 26-year-old woman was severely injured when her boyfriend, who is the son of a senior bureaucrat, allegedly tried to run her over with his car in Maharashtra's Thane district.

The accused has been identified as Ashwajit Gaikwad.

Speaking to ANI on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amar Singh Jadhav said, "The incident took place around 4 a.m. on Monday near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road, where the woman had gone to meet Ashwajit Gaikwad."

"An argument broke out between the victim, Ashwajeet Gaikwad and two other persons identified as Romil Patil and Sagar. The victim suffered injuries after the argument, and was admitted to the hospital, where the police recorded her statement. According to that, further action has been taken and a case has been registered against three accused under relevant sections," said the official.

"A case has been registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) (against accused Ashwajeet Gaikwad, Romil Patil and Sagar). Further investigation is being done on the basis of the victim's statement," informed the DCP.

The victim shared details and said, "Three bones in my right leg are broken. It has been operated on. From my left shoulder to my hips, I've had deep injuries. I cannot move my body. Four days ago, I went to file an FIR--the day all this happened. But no action was taken. Today, when I posted on social media, the police supported me."

The incident took place early on Monday morning near a hotel in Thane and police have registered a case against the accused, Ashwajit Gaikwad.

Sharing her information on the matter, victim Priya Singh's lawyer, Darshana Pawar, told ANI, "I met Priya in the morning. She is stable but the injuries are quite severe."

"As per the injuries, 307 (of IPC) should have been recorded, which has not been recorded. We have been requesting the investigating officers and police officers to take 307 and 356 on record. But, to date, they have not taken it. It's been more than four days. If they don't proceed, we will have to approach the High Court," stated the lawyer for the victim.

Further details on the matter are awaited.

Dharavi Tender Terms Finalised Under Maha Vikas Aghadi Regime: Adani Group

The project for the redevelopment of Dharavi slum in Mumbai was awarded to the Adani Group through a fair, open, and internationally competitive bidding process, and the tender conditions were finalised when the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was in power, as per a release issued by the group.

"It is unfortunate that a concerted effort is being made to disseminate misinformation about certain aspects of the project," the release said after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday led a march against the business conglomerate which was awarded rights to redevelop Dharavi.

The morcha was taken out from Dharavi to the Adani Group office located in the Bandra Kurla Complex.

The Maharashtra government in July formally awarded the 259-hectare Dharavi Redevelopment project to an Adani Group firm.

"It is important to note that the tender conditions were finalised during the tenure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, which demitted office at the end of June 2022," the release said on Saturday.

The finalised conditions, including the obligations and incentives, which were known to all the bidders, have not been changed for the awardee post the tendering process. Hence, it is wrong to claim that any special benefits have been given to the awardee, the release said.

It is reiterated that all eligible tenement holders will be provided with a key-to-key solution, which means they will move into their new homes in Dharavi itself. As per the tender conditions, even ineligible tenement holders will be provided accommodation under the Rental Housing Policy, it said.

The tender provisions also ensure that eligible residential tenements will receive 17% more area than other SRA projects in Mumbai.

Further, the generation and usage of TDR are as per the tender conditions and fully compliant with the relevant laws. Moreover, the resettlement of Dharavikars is not affected by Transferable Development Rights (TDR), it said.

Addressing protesters, Mr Thackeray has alleged that the redevelopment project involves TDR irregularities worth more than Rs 100 crore, which is the "biggest scam in the world".

The project spokesperson, however, stated that the TDR from the project will be managed and monitored transparently through a specially created portal by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and the state government.

The Maharashtra government has entered into a 99-year lease agreement with the Indian Railways and then it will be sub-leased on 30 years 30 years basis like any other government land in Mumbai to the housing societies. There is no change in this policy for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, the release said.

There is a general consensus, not only in Mumbai and Maharashtra but also across the whole of India, for transforming Dharavi and providing the people of Dharavi with better living conditions, adequate hygiene, education and vocational training, healthcare, employment opportunities, essential amenities and a life of dignity, it said.

The Dharavi project assumes added significance because many earlier attempts have failed to deliver. It is against this backdrop that the Adani Group has taken up the challenge and the responsibility of transforming Dharavi with all the above facilities, the release said.

A transformational project like Dharavi needs support from all stakeholders, including from political parties cutting across ideologies and differences, it added.
