Shah Rukh Khan Has An Honest Advice For David Beckham. "Get Some Sleep..."

Former England football team captain David Beckham has had a busy week during his first visit to India. Beckham, who was in the country as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, attended the Cricket World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. From cricketers to actors, Beckham obliged for a picture with everyone. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also caught up with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star.

Taking to social media platform X, Shah Rukh Khan reserved huge praise for Beckham, labelling the latter as "kind and an absolute gentleman".

However, the 58-year-old also had an interesting piece of advice for the 48-year-old former footballer.

"Last nite with an icon...and an absolute gentleman. Have always been a big admirer but meeting him and seeing how he is with kids made me realise that the only thing that out does his football is his kindness and his gentle nature. My love to your family. Be well and happy my friend and get some sleep.... #DavidBeckham," SRK captioned the post.

After playing professionally for 21 years, David Beckham officially retired from football in 2013. He announced the news on 16th May 2013, playing his final match for Paris Saint-Germain.

Beckham was subbed off at the 80 minute mark and received a standing ovation from fans, and support from his team mates.

In his recently released documentary on Netflix, Beckham described the moment, saying: "All of a sudden I couldn't breathe, and I couldn't control my emotions. When I finally come off, I completely lose it.

"But as much as it hurt me knowing I was never going to play football again, I knew I'd made the right decision."

Despite his retirement, Beckham is still associated with the beautiful. Beckham is the co-owner of MLS side Inter Miami in the United States.

'Younis, Afridi Would've Won World Cup With...': Ex-Pak Star Slams Babar

Babar Azam's captaincy and Pakistan cricket team's poor show in Cricket World Cup 2023 has come under lot of scrunity. Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament after finishing fifth in the points table, which led to several former cricketers demanding wholesale changes in the side, including the removal of Babar as skipper. The team, having stars like Babar, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, suffered losses against India, Australia, South Africa, England and a shock defeat at the hands of Afghanistan.

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal said that had the likes Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi and Misbah-ul-Haq got an equal amount of support as Babar Azam and company received from the fans over the past three years, they would have won the World Cup.

"The amount of support Babar and this team got from fans in the last three years, had they shown the same support to Younis (Khan), Shahid (Afridi), Misbah (ul Haq), these guys would have won a World Cup," said Kamran Akmal in a viral video.

After Pakistan's poor show in the Cricket World Cup 2023, Morne Morkel stepped down as the bowling coach of the team.

Former fast bowler Umar Gul is tipped to replace Morkel as he has worked before with the national team on an interim basis and has also coached the Afghanistan team.

It is worth noting that this was the third time on trot that Pakistan failed to enter the semi-finals of Cricket World Cup.

What Is Coffee Badging, New Workplace Trend As Employees Return To Office

Phrases like "quiet quitting", "rage applying" and "great resignation" have become viral since last year and have captured the annoyance and frustration of some employees as the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted their work-life balance. As companies ask employees to return to office now, many are getting smarter with how they spend their time there. This has led to the emergence of the trend called "coffee badging", as per a report in Forbes.

According to the phrase "coffee badging," workers come to their office, have a coffee, chat with coworkers, and then leave, receiving a figurative "badge" for showing up. The procedure particularly takes advantage of the notion of arriving at work, swiping your ID badge to verify that you have been there, and going out for coffee with coworkers. Post this, employees leave the office right away and head home. This is essentially seen as a resistance against the recent return-to-office mandates.

In its 2023 State of Hybrid Work report, Owl Labs- a firm that creates 360-degree video conferencing solutions stated that "the yearly return-to-office power struggle that happens each fall has arrived yet again." Companies such as Zoom, Meta, Salesforce, JP Morgan, and others are asking and even forcing their staff members to come back to work.

There are several reasons why employees are refusing to come back to work, according to the Owl poll. People don't want to waste time and money on frequent office trips, and a lot of companies still "have work to do" to create an inviting, efficient, and stress-free work environment that encourages employees to want to come back.

Frank Weishaupt, CEO of Owl Labs said, "People don't want to spend time and money on frequent office pilgrimages if they're just going to be sitting on the same video calls they'd be doing in the comfort of their own homes or on tasks that they feel less productive doing from the office. The data shows that many companies have more work to do to provide an attractive, productive and stress-free office environment that makes employees want to gather."

However, this trend can also have severe implications as it points to a negative aspect of work culture. Employees would feel that going to the office is a task and must be avoided. It could cause an issue among coworkers- those who spend the whole day in the office might become irate if they witness their colleagues taking undue advantage of hybrid work regulations. Additionally, coffee badging can shorten team meetings and sabotage initiatives to create a supportive workplace environment.

Career expert Greg Giangrande, in an interview with Fox News, said that he would not advise coffee badging to potential employees. "If you're a coffee badger and you're only showing up for an hour or two, your employer is going to know that. And I don't think they're going to accept that as showing up for the day for very long," he added.

Narayana Murthy Says This Is How Much India Should Spend To Train Teachers

Software icon N R Narayana Murthy on Wednesday called for spending USD one billion a year to train school teachers by 10,000 retired highly accomplished teachers from the developed world and from India in STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This course alone is not sufficient, Narayana Murthy said.

"We must show much respect and pay better salaries to our teachers and researchers. We must also provide better facilities to our researchers. We must honour them. They are role models for our youngsters. That is why we instituted the Infosys Prize in 2009. It is our small contribution to further the cause of research in India". he added.

One possible way of accelerating NEP's (National Education Policy) outcome is to invite 10,000 retired highly accomplished teachers from the developed world and from India in STEM areas to create 2,500 "Train the Teacher" colleges in the country's 28 states and eight union territories, Mr Murthy said.

This training programme should be year-long, he said in his remarks at a press conference, where the Infosys Science Foundation announced the Infosys Prize 2023 in six categories.

"Experts tell me that each set of four trainers can train 100 primary school teachers and 100 secondary school teachers a year. We will be able to train 250,000 primary school teachers and 250,000 secondary school teachers every year by this method," the founder of Infosys said. These trained Indian teachers can themselves become trainers over a period of five years.

"We should pay about USD 100,000 a year for each of these retired teachers. This twenty-year programme will cost us USD one billion a year and USD 20 billion for twenty years. Our nation, targeting a GDP of USD five trillion soon, will not find it a big financial burden," Mr Murthy, who is the trustee of Infosys Science Foundation said.

If you think this is expensive, you may recall the words of Derek Bok, a former President of Harvard University, who said, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance," he noted.

On whether the Infosys Science Foundation will be making a strong recommendation on teachers' training and spending towards it, amid increased allocations on freebies by some governments and cut in budget on science and R&D, Murthy said, he has made the suggestion with the spirit of betterment of the country, and there are experts who will evaluate it and decide.

"In an environment like India's there are always suggestions by various people, and I'm sure we have a set of experts who will evaluate those suggestions. And if it is found to be worthwhile, they may take it forward. Otherwise, it won't, that's natural. And therefore, I think all these suggestions should be welcomed, as long as it is given with the spirit of betterment of the country," he said.

Another Infosys co-founder and President, Board of Trustees of the foundation S Gopalakrishnan said, "as our GDP grows, we need to do something different and we can't continue the same way that we are progressing." Pointing at the National Education Policy 2020, he said, "we would like to see faster implementation of that policy. It is not enough that we make a recommendation, its implementation is equally important. And it is in that spirit that Mr. Murthy, I believe, has made this recommendation." Narayana Murthy, in his remarks highlighted that there are four stages in the invention and innovation lifecycle of a nation and said countries progress from stage one to stage four using education and research.

India's success in atomic energy, space exploration, vaccine production and distribution, green revolution, electric cars, and generic medicines puts us in stage two in most areas and in stage three in a few areas, he said. "We are still in stage one in some important areas like design of livable cities, pollution management, traffic management, and providing clean and safe water." India must aspire to move to stage four in every area that affects the lives of our poorest citizens in the remotest part of the country, Mr Murthy said, adding, improving the quality of research and education in our institutions of higher learning to generate good ideas and focusing on quick and high-quality implementation of those ideas form the solution to this aspiration.

Excellence in speed in idea generation and in execution of those ideas comes from a culture of high aspiration, curious and inquiring minds, a desire to achieve the best global standard of work productivity, the most stringent discipline and hard work, and the mindset of a nation that respects better-performing cultures and is ready to learn from them, he said.

Pitching for improving the quality of our primary, secondary, and higher educational institutions to embrace independent, critical, and analytical thinking; "Socratic questioning"; and focusing on relating theory to understand the real world around us; to solve the mysteries of nature; and to solve our real-world problems, Mr Murthy said, "I am glad NEP has started this journey."

Watch: Anushka Can't Keep Calm, Blows Flying Kisses As Kohli Hits 50th Ton

Virat Kohli created history by slamming his 50th ODI century during the Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinal match between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Kohli surpassed legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar to claim the world record of scoring the highest number of centuries in ODI cricket. Celebrations erupted all around the ground as Kohli reached the milestone and wife Anushka Sharma's reaction has gone viral. Anushka could not control her excitement and was seen blowing flying kisses towards Kohli. Sachin was also in attendance and he, along with legendary footballer David Beckham, was seen applauding the huge feat.

Kohli, 35, reached his century -- his third of the tournament -- with a two off fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, having faced 106 balls, hitting eight fours and a six, to break the record of 49 ODI hundreds he had shared with Sachin Tendulkar.

He did so on his former India team-mate's home ground, with Tendulkar among those applauding at the Wankhede Stadium as Kohli bowed towards his childhood hero and fellow 2011 World Cup-winner.

"It feels like a dream. Too good to be true," said Kohli at the innings break after India piled up 397-4.

This was Kohli's 279th ODI innings, with the former India captain having also scored a further 71 fifties in addition to his 50 hundreds.

Dropped on 107, Kohli was eventually out for 117 when he pulled Tim Southee low to Devon Conway at deep square leg.

"For me the most important thing is to make my team win. I've been given a role this tournament and I'm trying to dig deep," added Kohli.

"That's the key to consistency - play according to the situation and play for the team."

Tendulkar, whose previous record of 49 had been equalled by Kohli 10 days ago in the group stage win over South Africa, hailed his compatriot's "passion and skill".

"The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn't stop laughing that day," Tendulkar wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. I couldn't be happier that an Indian broke my record.

"And to do it on the biggest stage - in the World Cup semi-final - and at my home ground is the icing on the cake."

Kohli said he was over-joyed to achieve the record in front of his wife, Anushka Sharma, and Tendulkar

"Sachin was there in the stands, my hero. My life partner and all these fans at the Wankhede," said Kohli.

India, bidding to win a third World Cup title and second on home soil, were also boosted by Shreyas Iyer's 105 and 80 from Shubman Gill.
