Telangana Congress Chief Revanth Reddy To Contest Against KCR In Polls

The Congress on Monday released its third list of 16 candidates for the Telangana assembly elections, fielding its state unit chief Revanth Reddy against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao from the Kamareddy assembly constituency.

This is the second seat on which Mr Reddy, the sitting MP from the Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency, is contesting.

In this list, the party has also replaced two candidates declared earlier.

While Ade Gajender will now contest from the Boath-ST seat, replacing Vannela Ashok, Tudi Megha Reddy has been fielded from Wanaparthy in place of Gillela Chinna Reddy, who was nominated earlier.

With this, only three more candidates are left to be declared by the Congress, which is seeking to wrest power from the BRS in the southern state.

Revanth Reddy will also contest from the Kodangal assembly seat, while CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has been fielded from the Madhira-SC seat. The candidates for these seats were announced on October 15.

The party has also fielded its sitting Lok Sabha MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy from the Huzurnagar assembly constituency. He currently represents the Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat in Telangana.

The assembly elections in Telangana will be held on November 30 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3.

Amazon Employee Loses Rs 1.6 Crore Stock After Refusing To Return To Office

An Amazon software-development manager who was with the tech giant for over three years decided to quit his job after the company asked him to return to the office in the US. The employee had to forego company stocks worth $200,000 (about Rs 1.6 crore). The man who has opted to stay anonymous told Insider that they were informed in May that they would need to report from the office in Seattle in June.

The employee said that they were "blindsided" by the decision and felt that it was a betrayal of the company's original promise to allow him to work remotely. "I tried negotiating. I showed them an estimate I'd received to pack up my family and move us across the country with our livestock - it would have cost $150,000 - and asked what the relocation package would look like. I didn't get an answer," they told Insider.

With mounting pressure from the company, discussions arose about employees being less productive while working from home, despite lacking any data to substantiate these claims.

"And then we were being told, 'We don't have the data, we just know it's true' -- a phrase so patently un-Amazonian that it became hard to sit there and preach leadership principles... It didn't make any sense. It still doesn't," he said.

He also revealed that he ultimately quit his job, losing $203,000 in unvested stock. The former Amazon staff member is now employed at a company with another former Amazon colleague. He mentioned that his present role offers a similar salary to his previous one, yet it's clear they cannot rival Amazon's stock options.

Amazon spokesperson Brad Glasser told Insider via email that they couldn't confirm the employee's story. He went on to say that "a single anecdote could not characterise a company of Amazon's size."

Mr Glasser added, "We've repeatedly made our position clear: In February, we shared with employees that we'd be asking them to start coming into the office three or more days per week beginning in May because we believe it would yield the best long-term results for our customers, business, and culture. As part of this process, we've asked a relatively small percentage of our team to relocate to be in the same location as their teams. This isn't a one-size-fits-all approach, so team hubs and relocation timelines will vary based on a number of factors, and we're communicating with employees individually and providing relocation support. As is the case with any of our policies, we expect our team to follow them and will take appropriate action if someone chooses not to do that."

Ashneer Grover Takes A Dig At Shark Tank India 3: "Wish Quantity Solves..."

On Sunday, BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover remarked that having 12 judges on the third season of Shark Tank India, instead of the usual six, created an impression that the popular reality show was conducting a preliminary "audition" of the Sharks before selecting them for the next season.

The former Shark wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "Shark Tank 3 is 'audition' of sharks for Shark Tank 4! Life mein ek lesson hai -- don't change and make unnecessary problems of something which is already solved. Wish quantity solves for quality!"

See the post here:

The Shank Tank India recently shared that the number of sharks has gone from 6 to 12 in the new season. The caption reads, "This new season, the stakes are going to be higher, with 12 SHARKS in the TANK! (shark and star-eyed emojis) Introducing Ritesh Agarwal, Varun Dua, Deepinder Goyal, Azhar Iqubal, Radhika Gupta, and Ronnie Screwvala as the 6 new Sharks of Shark Tank India Season 3."

Commenting on Mr Grover's post, a user wrote, "Still they're unable to get your replacement! The audience loved you as a Shark! Let's see when will you make the comeback!"

"Show was dead after s1," another user wrote on X.

"Maybe the shark's purse this time is less, hence they want different sharks to pitch in at different times to invest," the third user wrote.

"Don't fix what isn't broken! The original season still remains in a league of its own," the fourth user remarked.

"Let's put it this way Ashneer. These guys are struggling really hard to get the same TRP as Season 1 when you had driven the show single-handedly," the fifth user wrote.

Ravindra Shatters Sachin's World Record With Sensational WC 2023 Century

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra continued his monumental run at the Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, smashing his third ton in the tournament, making him the Kiwi batter with most WC centuries. Ravindra accomplished this record in the World Cup match against Pakistan at Bengaluru. Ravindra smashed 108 in 94 balls with 15 fours and a six. His runs came at a strike rate of over 114. With this, Rachin has made three centuries in this World Cup itself, overtaking the likes of Glenn Turner (1975, two centuries), Kane Williamson (2019, two centuries) and Martin Guptill (2015, two centuries) to have the most centuries by a Kiwi batter in a single World Cup edition.

Rachin's three tons are also most by a New Zealand batter in CWC history.

This third century by the all-rounder is also the highest by a batter in their debut World Cup.

Rachin has overtaken one of his idols, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, as he now has three World Cup centuries before turning 25 years of age. Sachin had two WC tons before he turned 25.

Rachin has also levelled with Tendulkar to have most runs in a single WC edition before 25 years of age.

In eight matches so far, Rachin has scored 523 runs at an average of 74.71 with a strike rate of over 107, with three centuries and two fifties. His best score is 123*. He is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament next to South Africa's Quinton de Kock (545 runs).

Sachin also had 523 runs in 1996 World Cup, before he turned 25 runs. With one more group stage match and possibly atleast one knockout match to go, Rachin has a chance to pass Sachin.

Rachin is just 10 runs away from breaking Jonny Bairstow's record of 532 runs (in 11 innings) of most runs by a batter in their debut World Cup.

Coming to the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. With three wins and four losses, Pakistan is at sixth position while NZ is at fourth with four wins and three losses. This match is must win for both teams to keep their semifinal dreams alive.

"Any Party Seen Backing Manipur's Meiteis...": Zoramthanga On Mizoram Polls

Every time Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga holds street corner meetings for his party the Mizo National Front (MNF), he brings up the ethnic unrest in neighbouring Manipur.

Zoramthanga, 79, has been holding such meetings at village Sihphir on the outskirts of the state capital Aizawl. This area falls under his Aizawl East 1 constituency.

The three-time Chief Minister has not only sheltered thousands of internally displaced Chin-Kuki tribes from Manipur, but has also taken a stand against the BJP government in Manipur led by his counterpart N Biren Singh.

Though the MNF is an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Zoramthanga - citing kinship and familial ties with the Chin-Kuki tribes in Myanmar - has openly given shelter to at least 40,000 refugees who fled from the junta rule in the neighbouring nation.

"We are not a partner with the BJP in the election. We are only a member of the NDA in the centre, not in the state. The government of India told me to push back Myanmar and Bangladesh refugees. But we have been sheltering them for years and India has given humanitarian services. Our stand on the Manipur issue is a big, big plus point in this election," Zoramthanga told NDTV.

The MNF swept the 2018 assembly election, winning 27 of the 40 seats. Zoramthanga's party has projected him as the "guardian of the Chin-Kuki-Zo tribes", though his rivals and other parties like the BJP has accused him of corruption, not checking rising unemployment and drug trafficking, and poor infrastructure.

"The Mizo people did not like the MNF because they are still with the BJP. But the Manipur crisis has shown us what the BJP is all about," Mizoram Congress chief Lalsawta told NDTV.

Zoramthanga has been a veteran of many elections; some he won, some he lost. But this time, he faces a tough four-way electoral battle with many parties in the arena. The Chief Minister, however, is optimistic the Manipur issue will help his party, which was founded by Laldenga, who waged a two-decade-long guerilla war against India for independence for a sovereign Mizo nation until the signing of a peace agreement in 1986.

"Multi-way fight is not new to me. We will form government comfortably. The BJP has fought against us for a long time, so the BJP fighting alone against us is not new. We are founding members of the NDA, but our support is issue-based. Any party seen supporting the Meiteis in Manipur would be suicidal in the Mizoram election," said Zoramthanga, who at one time was a cadre of a Mizo insurgent group that declared independence from India in 1966.

"The ZPM (Zoram People's Movement) is a messy mix of many smaller parties. They are not an organised party. They will try to grab anything to come to power. But people are annoyed since the ZPM is seen close to a party that is on the side of the Meiteis in Manipur," Zoramthanga said, alluding to the BJP that is in power in the neighbouring state.

"I will keep prohibition on when voted to power this time. We will confidently form government on our own," Zoramthanga told NDTV.

ZPM chief Lalduhoma said people are tired of the MNF. "Mizoram has been under the MNF for a long time. And people really want change in the way they are governed. They want to end corruption," Lalduhoma told NDTV.
