Sehwag Shuts Down Iyer's Selection In India's T20I Team, Gives Blunt Reason

Much like every season, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign has seen several Indian players make a case for national selection. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stars Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar have impressed heavily, leading to many experts and fans calling for their entrance into the Indian team. RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik has been one of those, stating that Padikkal's sensational form would make it very hard for the BCCI selection committee to ignore him. However, legendary India opener Virender Sehwag expressed disagreement, raising a different perspective.

Sehwag suggested that there is no place in the Indian T20I side for players like Padikkal, Patidar or even Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal, as the current national side is extremely strong.

"Dinesh Karthik is saying that Padikkal should play for India, but every season players emerge who feel that they should play for India. But where is the space in the Indian team?" said Sehwag, speaking on Cricbuzz.

"There is no place for Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Devdutt Padikkal, and there are many more players. There is no place for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal. There are five players who are scoring runs, but who will you drop for them? Where is the space?" Sehwag added.

India's T20I team has grown into arguably the strongest T20I side of all time, winning two T20 World Cups in a row, in 2024 and 2026. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, India have not lost a single T20I series till date.

Padikkal has had a superb IPL 2026 campaign, slamming 208 runs in just six innings. He has already slammed three swashbuckling half-centuries in that period. What has been even more impressive is his strike-rate of over 184.

Padikkal has represented India twice in T20Is and twice in Tests, but his last international appearance in the shortest format came nearly five years ago.

Fabulous Lives Of Cartel Wives: Women Masterminds Of Latin Drug Businesses

Latin-American drug cartels are globally known to be dominated by men. Whether it is the geared-up foot soldiers, the gang leaders or the hitmen, men have always been the face of the cartels. However, the recent killing of the world's most-wanted traffickers, Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes, in a daring operation by the Mexican military has revealed that sometimes it is the cartel women that you need to watch out for.

El Mencho had a $15 million bounty on his head and was wanted by both Mexican and US authorities. While he was successfully on the run for years, it was one of his lovers that led the military to the mountains of Tapalpa in western Mexico, where he was hiding, according to a CNN report.

While the lover's identity has been kept hidden, her role in one of Mexico's most significant anti-drug operations underscores the role of women in Latin America's drug cartels. From trophy wives to smuggling operatives and masterminds, women have been involved in every level of cartel operations. And if they are married to the bosses, they are often involved in more decision-making roles.

"If you are the wife of a senior cartel boss, you are likely read into their logistics, their operations, their strategies. So, when your husband is captured or killed, it's possible that you're able to take over a large chunk of the business," Henry Ziemer, an expert on organised crime at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told CNN.

Griselda Blanco: Queen Of Cocaine

Colombia's Griselda Blanco was one of Latin America's most famous woman crime bosses and known as the "Queen of Cocaine". She had three husbands, all partners in her businesses and responsible for shipping huge shipments of cocaine from Colombia to Miami in the 1970s and 80s. She was recently portrayed by Sofia Vergara in Netflix's series "Griselda".

Griselda was known to have links with both Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel and was the mastermind behind several killings. "Even by the context of how hits were taken out in the cartels across the Americas in the 70s and 80s, she's still pretty ruthless," Claire White, director of education at The Mob Museum in Las Vegas, told CNN.

Griselda also hired more women than men and employed them as smugglers. "She had that ability to recognise skills and see women and put them into those positions," Elaine Carey, historian and author of 'Women Drug Traffickers: Mules, Bosses, and Organised Crime', told CNN.

Antonella Marchant

Antonella Marchant ran the Los Marchant clan alongside her father in Chile and specialised in financials and logistics. Los Marchant imported large quantities of cocaine from Bolivia and distributed it in the southern part of the Chilean capital, Santiago.

Antonella and her father were sentenced to 15 years in prison, and her brother was sentenced to 12 years in 2023 for an operation in December 2021 that involved more than 300 kilograms of cocaine.

Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia: La Jefa

Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia, known as "La Jefa" or "The Boss," was El Mencho's wife. The US sanctioned her brother Abigael and the Los Cuinis family-based cartel he led. The cartel has been closely aligned with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and it is Rosalinda to whom El Mencho owes his own ascent in the Jalisco cartel.

"In reality, El Mencho reached the (Jalisco) cartel's leadership through a diplomatic strategy via marriage," Mexican public security expert David Saucedo told CNN. Rosalinda has been accused of being one of the group's financial masterminds and was also charged with money laundering in 2018.

"Rosalinda's role in the cartel is pretty fundamental in the sense that she has always been involved in the money side. (Besides) when people in that world are married, they're not living what you and I would consider a conventional marriage. Who knows whether they were still romantically involved?" Deborah Bonello, author of 'Narcas: The Secret Rise of Women in Latin America's Cartels', told CNN.

Emma Coronel Aispuro

While Rosalinda came from a cartel family, not all narco-wives came from a drug background or were visibly involved in operations. For instance, Emma Coronel Aispuro, wife of notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and a California-born former beauty queen, is mostly known for her modelling career. She has appeared in music videos, modelled for brands and also become an influencer with over five lakh followers on Instagram. She has always denied involvement in any of her husband's businesses.

Coronel was, however, arrested in 2021 and sentenced to three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to money laundering and drug trafficking charges related to El Chapo's narcotics business.

Raghav Chadha Loses 1.1 Million Instagram Followers After AAP Rebellion

Seven MPs, two-thirds of the AAP's total strength in the Rajya Sabha - these were the headline numbers when Raghav Chadha announced he was quitting the party, and a merger with the BJP was in the offing.

Less than a day later, there was another figure that was grabbing eyeballs: 1.1 million.

That is the number of followers the Rajya Sabha MP lost on Instagram since he made the announcement.

The move has triggered sharp reactions both within the party and on social media.

NDTV tracked Raghav Chadha's Instagram account after reports emerged that users were unfollowing him. According to the data, on the day of the announcement, he had 14.2 million followers.

As of now, his follower count has declined to 13.1 million, indicating that nearly 1.1 million users have unfollowed him within just 24 hours.

Reacting to the drop, AAP MLA and spokesperson Sanjeev Jha said, “Party volunteers and supporters have started unfollowing him on Instagram because he betrayed the party. People do not like his move. He always made reels to attract them, but that is also not working in his favour.”

Another AAP leader said the drop in social media followers indicates that his popularity is declining.

Amid these developments, AAP has taken a strong stance against the rebel MPs. AAP said that “seven of our MPs have joined the BJP through illegal means. This is against the anti-defection law.” The party added that the law does not recognise such a split as valid and that action should be taken.

The party said it would write to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, demanding the disqualification of these MPs.

US, Iran Prepare For 2nd Round Of Talks In Pak Without Vance, Ghalibaf

After days of stalemate, the United States has confirmed that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will head to Pakistan on Saturday for a new round of talks with Iran.

"I can confirm Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be off to Pakistan again tomorrow morning to engage in talks...  with representatives from the Iranian delegation," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News on Friday.

Leavitt added that everyone will be on standby to fly to Pakistan if necessary, but first, these top aides will go there and report back on the situation to US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, have been central to the first round of talks held in Pakistan on April 11 and 12.

Both US Vice President JD Vance and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the leader of the Iranian negotiating team in the first round of talks, will notably be absent from the second round of talks.

This comes after Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced a "timely tour" to Pakistan, Oman and Russia focused on "bilateral matters and regional developments".

"Embarking on a timely tour of Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow. The purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments. Our neighbours are our priority", he wrote on X.

Earlier, Iran said that it won't hold talks until the US lifts its blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, while the US side was demanding verifiable assurances that Tehran will end its nuclear programme and lift its own blockade of the strait.

At a Pentagon briefing on Friday, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said Trump had said the US “had all the time in the world and we are not anxious for a deal”.

He added that Iran had a chance to make a "good deal, a wise deal".

Sai Sudharsan Breaks Chris Gayle's Sensational IPL Record With Fiery Knock

Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan scripted history with his batting on Friday night during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The southpaw, who started the season poorly with just one fifty in six matches, slammed a sensational century (100 off 58) against RCB. During the knock, Sudharsan also reached the milestone of 2,000 IPL runs. He achieved the feat in his 47th innings, surpassing the previous record held by Chris Gayle. The former West Indies opener had reached the milestone in 48 innings.

Fastest to 2000 IPL runs:

47 innings - Sai Sudharsan
48 innings - Chris Gayle
52 innings - Shaun Marsh
57 innings - Ruturaj Gaikwad
60 innings - KL Rahul

In terms of balls, Sudharsan is the sixth fastest Indian batter to achieve the feat of 2000 IPL runs. Have a look at the list:

1193 - Abhishek Sharma
1211 - Virender Sehwag
1306 - Rishabh Pant
1326 - Yashasvi Jaiswal
1353 - Yusuf Pathan
1361 - Sai Sudharsan

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field against GT in the game. It's the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's final home game of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Gujarat Titans came into this clash on the back of a heavy 99-run loss to the Mumbai Indians.

During the match, Jason Holder made his Gujarat Titans debut.

"We will field first. One change - Salty (Phil Salt) got injured, (Jacob) Bethell is in. One great point is that we're assessing the wicket and the situation well, and our planning has been good. This looks like a good wicket for batting, but it lacks grass and could be tacky in the first innings," said RCB captain Rajat Patidar said during the toss.

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said, "Not really, chasing is good here, but hopefully we'll have a good game. It's all about assessing the conditions early, getting off to a good start and setting up the foundation early. Games like that (against MI) can happen in such a big tournament, but we're focusing on the positives. Two changes: Jason Holder is playing, and Manav Suthar is back."

Before Iran War, China Amassed World's Largest Oil Stockpile

Ahead of the war in Iran, China aggressively added to its oil reserves, more than any other country, according to the United States government data released this week.

"Prior to the Iran conflict, preliminary government data indicate that China has continued building inventories in 2026," the article stated.

The New York Times reported earlier in the month that China imported 15.8 per cent more oil in January and February compared to the same period last year.

"Oil stockpiling has been taking place for a while now, and Chinese regulators were already preparing for geopolitical tensions to arise from the Trump administration," Cosimo Ries, an energy analyst at Trivium China told the publication.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, China had nearly 1.4 billion barrels of oil put aside compared to 1.2 billion barrels among 32 members of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Of these, the US has 413 million barrels.

Moreover, the US has been drawing out its stockpile. It is left with 405 million barrels after selling 8 million barrels in April. US President Donald Trump has authorised the release of 172 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to combat high energy prices and supply disruptions caused by the conflict with Iran.

Why China Is Stockpiling

The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies said that China is stockpiling due to three factors. First, crude prices remain subdued as global demand continues to soften. Second, risks are intensifying due to potential supply chain disruptions and strict sanctions on major exporters like Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Third, a new domestic energy mandate now requires companies to increase their strategic reserves to ensure long-term security.

China is very dependent on global oil because it is the world's largest crude oil importer, but it has filled its coffers in a "pretty wise" and "strategic step", as Ries said.

Due to the Iran war, the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world's oil supply flows, has been disrupted.

Iran vowed it would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz as long as the United States continues to blockade its ports.

"We're Watching": On Poll Day, Mahua Moitra Reveals Locations Of BJP Leaders

Circling them in red, Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra singled out two senior BJP leaders and disclosed thier alleged location in Kolkata as the voting was underway in Bengal for Phase 1. She also slipped in a warning for the two.

The 51-year-old Trinamool MP questioned the presence of Swadesh Singh, a professor at Delhi's Satyavati College, and Saurabh Singh, a former BJP MLA from Chhattisgarh, in Bengal on the day of voting.

The MP alleged that the two were "distributing cash".

"What exactly are @swadesh171 Professor Satyavati College & @saurabhsinghcg doing in Bengal? Calling up people for vasooli & distributing cash in the name of BJP Rastriya Adhyaksh @NitinNabin," she said in a post on X.

The images carried the text 'S+S', likely the names of the two leaders with Leander Paes also appearing in the frame.

"We're watching - you will not escape," she said.

An hour, later she posted again, claiming that the two BJP leaders are on the move again. She also mentioned thier alleged next destination.

"Beware @saurabhsinghcg after my tweet you are checking out of Elgin Hotel & going to Novotel with your team to continue distribution. This is Bengal - @NitinNabin won't be able to save you here," she said.

Clashes, allegations of intimidation and attacks on candidates, including on two of the BJP, were reported from several constituencies, prompting the Election Commission to seek detailed reports even as it maintained that polling was "largely peaceful".

Earlier in the day, BJP candidate Suvendu Sarkar was allegedly manhandled in Dakshin Dinajpur's Kumarganj, while BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul's car was attacked in Asansol Dakshin, with stones shattering its rear windowpanes - incidents the party cited as evidence of "targeted violence".

The Trinamool denied the allegations, accusing the BJP of attempting to "engineer" unrest.

Thursday's polling, covering key constituencies across north Bengal and parts of the south, is being closely watched for early signals in a high-stakes contest between the Trinamool and the BJP.

Polling in the remaining 142 constituencies is scheduled for May 29. The votes will be counted on May 4.

Rs 1.5 Crore Overseas Star To Debut For CSK In El Clasico vs Mumbai Indians

Spencer Johnson is poised to take centre stage for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their critical bottom-of-the-table match against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. Bowling coach Eric Simmons hinted at Johnson's potential inclusion due to Khaleel Ahmed's injury. Khaleel had to leave the field before finishing his overs in CSK's last game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This situation led the team to consider Johnson, who was signed for Rs 1.5 crore as a replacement in their bowling lineup. His addition comes at a time when injuries have heavily impacted Chennai's season.

“Khaleel Ahmed & Anshul Kamboj have been really good for us. Spencer Johnson (Khaleel's replacement) will be in our starting XI tomorrow night," Simmons said on the eve of the match.

CSK has faced challenges all season, starting with three straight losses to Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They briefly revived their season with wins over Delhi Capitals and KKR, but then experienced another setback with a 10-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mumbai's performance has also been shaky. After starting their season with a win against KKR, they lost to DC, RR, RCB, and PBKS before getting back on track with a second win against the Gujarat Titans.

Apart from Johnson, former skipper Dhoni, 44, has already started light training, including his first wicketkeeping session of IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, after missing CSK's first six matches.

With only two wins from six games, CSK is currently in eighth place in the points table. Their matchup on April 23 against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians is crucial as they aim to turn their season around.

The Mumbai Indians have finally found their feet with a fine performance against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, with pacer Jasprit Bumrah claiming his first wicket of the season in their sixth match. In between, the Mumbai Indians also lost opener Rohit Sharma to a hamstring injury in his right leg. He had retired hurt in the match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and skipper Hardik Pandya said he will miss the next two matches

Kavya Maran's Reaction Viral After Abhishek Slams 5th Highest IPL Score

SRH owner Kavya Maran was ectatic after the ton by Abshiek as was the star opener's father Raj Kumar Sharma.

After being put in to bat, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a flying start, scoring nine runs in the opening over.

Nitish Rana responded with a tight second over, conceding just six runs, but the momentum quickly shifted back as both openers struck a boundary each off Mukesh Kumar in the next over.

Lungi Ngidi came into the attack in the fourth over but was taken for 10 runs. The pressure mounted in the following over when Sharma and Head took charge against Rana, scoring 20 runs to bring up a brisk 50-run opening partnership.

Sharma capped off an impressive powerplay by smashing a six off the final ball, guiding SRH to a commanding 67 without loss at the end of the fielding restrictions.

DC skipper Axar Patel, featuring in his 100th match for the franchise, delivered a tight over immediately after the powerplay, conceding just seven runs. He was well supported by Kuldeep Yadav, who followed up with another disciplined over, giving away only eight runs.

In Patel's second over, Sharma and Head slammed him for a six each before the DC skipper got the better of Head for 37, bringing SRH skipper Ishan Kishan to the crease.

In the same over, Sharma brought up his fifty in 25 balls - the slowest fifty of his six IPL fifties in Hyderabad.

Sharma also completed 2,000 IPL runs for SRH, joining David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson in the elite list.

Sharma and Kishan launched an attack on Yadav as the duo slammed 22 runs in the 11th over. Continuing to take on the DC bowlers, Sharma brought up his second IPL hundred in the 15th over.

In the same over, SRH skipper Kishan was run out for 25; however, Sharma thumped Rana for 23 runs to take SRH's total to 183/2.

Sharma blazed his way to his second IPL century in 47 balls. It was the 25-year-old's ninth T20 century overall, equalling Virat Kohli's record for the most centuries by an Indian in men's T20 cricket.

This also marked the second instance of Abhishek Sharma smashing 10 sixes in an IPL innings, making him only the second batter to achieve the feat multiple times after Chris Gayle, who has done it four times.

Sunrisers Hyderabad surged past the 200-run mark by the end of the 17th over, with Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen at the crease.

Klaasen continued the onslaught, smashing two sixes off Lungi Ngidi in the 18th over to add another 14 runs to SRH's total.

Klaasen also became the third-fastest player to reach 100 IPL sixes in terms of innings (52), behind Gayle (37) and Andre Russell (47), and the seventh-fastest in terms of balls faced (1,072).

T. Natarajan bowled an outstanding 19th over, conceding just six runs. SRH finished their innings on 242/2, with Klaasen and Sharma collecting 20 runs in the final over.

Despite $120,000 Job Offer, NRI Wants To Return To India: "I'm Too Depressed"

An NRI who recently completed their master's degree and landed a $120,000 (Rs 1.12 crore) job offer in the US said they wanted to return to India as soon as possible. In a social media post, the user detailed that they received the job offer in Austin, Texas, but wanted to return home due to depression caused by the loneliness of living in a foreign land.

"Hey guys, need a help badly. I'm about to finish my MS from Indiana. Got 120k (100k base) offer in Austin. I have about 40k dollar loan pending," the user said in a Reddit post.

The NRI sought the internet's help on how to go about the transition and asked how much they needed to save before leaving the US.

"I'm too depressed right now and just want to save as much as possible before returning. Could someone give me rough estimate about how much will I have in-hand & how much can I save roughly in 3/4 years?"

Social Media Reactions

As the post gained traction, social media users highlighted that paying off the loan, especially in USD, should be the priority for the NRI prior to returning home.

"Given your goal of leaving the US as soon as possible with a 40k loan i'd give myself at least two years of space to pay it back," said one user, while another added: "Clearing the loan and saving approximately 125k is achievable. No state taxes is an added bonus. Since you can't get by without a car in Texas, buy a beater car, and have flatmates. Do not get a brand new or a fairly used car."

A third commented: "I was able to save $150k with $72k job in Florida in four years, lived very frugally like a student in shared accommodation and without a car, no fancy trips & restaurants, was able to cap the monthly expenses to $1k a month."

A fourth said: "Your primary objective should be to pay off your loan while you can earn in USD. Try to make friends who have similar interests. Austin is good place for outdoor activities. That should help your current mental health situation."

3,000 Troops, 5 Ships: Key Pact Allows India, Russia To Share Military Bases

India and Russia can now share army bases, ports, and air bases and station up to 3,000 military personnel in each other's territory, as the Indo-Russian Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement (RELOS) - signed between New Delhi and Moscow in February 2025 - has become operational.

The pact was signed in Moscow to boost military cooperation and logistics support between India and one of its most reliable allies. The agreement, under which India and Moscow agreed to station five battleships, ten fighter planes and 3,000 soldiers on each other's soil, will remain in effect for 5 years and can be extended, reported the Russian news agency, Sputnik.

The bilateral agreement extends India's strategic reach to the Arctic region -- which is fast becoming the global maritime hotspot, as Russia and China have been increasing their presence in the vast maritime wilderness.

New Delhi will be able to access the massive ports in Russia's Murmansk and Severomorsk.

Moscow is eyeing logistics cooperation from the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean. The pact will provide Russia with support like refuelling, repair, spare parts and supplies.

The pact, which will be operational in war and peacetime, allows the two nations to save money and time in long-distance missions.

India has signed a similar agreement with the United States. Called LEMOA, or Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement, the pact allows reciprocal access to military facilities for refuelling, supplies and logistics support. However, it differs from RELOS due to the provision of stationing troops. RELOS also allows the exchange of goods if required.

Under RELOS, cost reimbursement, meaning bartering instead of payment, is also possible.

RELOS and LEMOA highlight India's multi-alignment policy.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), a Swedish think tank, said in a 2025 report that Russia remained the biggest arms supplier of equipment and systems for the Indian Armed Forces. It noted that between 2020 and 2024, India was the world's second-largest arms importer, with Russia contributing 36 per cent to the country's total defence purchase during the period.

From Greetings To Being On Time: Indian Woman Says Europe Changed Her Lifestyle

An Indian woman's experience of living in Europe has caught attention online, as she shared how it changed her daily habits and way of thinking.

Visha Khandelwal posted a video on Instagram where she spoke about the cultural differences she noticed while staying in European homes and how she is now using those lessons in her life back in India.

She begins by saying that as an Indian who spent the last few months inside European homes, she learned several things and is now applying them in her daily life.

She first talks about the importance of small social gestures, explaining that she formed the habit of greeting everyone, including cab drivers, waiters and even strangers passing by.

She adds that while this behaviour may not always work the same way in India, it has still changed how she interacts with people.

She says that although sharing the OTP first with an auto driver is practical, she has started having conversations after that and believes that even a short ride can offer new perspectives.

Another habit she highlights is punctuality. Recalling an incident, she says that when two Indian girls were travelling with a Swiss man, they would tell him to meet at 8:45 in the morning if they actually wanted him there at 8:30, yet he would still arrive at 8:30.

She says this consistency has influenced her own behaviour over time, adding that she now finds herself waiting for cabs or autos and often reaching before time. She noted that the stress and guilt of being late and having to apologise is something she now avoids, and feels it is underrated.

Watch Video Here:

Khandelwal also reflects on independence and self-focus. She shares that she has lived in co-living spaces with women aged 35 to 40 who were travelling alone, writing books, focusing on fitness and living without worry.

She contrasts this with societal expectations in India, saying that the thought of what people will say does not even cross their minds. She adds that these women moved out early, started earning on their own and made their own decisions without constant involvement from relatives.

The video was captioned that what she learnt from Europeans as an Indian travelling abroad includes learning to say no and drawing clearer boundaries, which she describes as an important lesson.

Social Media Reaction

Social Media Users gave mixed reactions to the post. One user commented, "The punctuality hack of telling the Swiss guy 8:45 so he shows up at 8:30 is so painfully relatable."

Another user calls it, "So truee and relatable!"

"Out Hai": Kohli Disagrees With Umpire's Decision; DRS Masterclass Follows

Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bengaluru could not register a win at their home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in an IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. RCB scored 175/8 in 20 overs while batting first. In reply, DC chased down the target in 19.5 overs. During the IPL clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli scored 19 off 13 balls, hitting three fours at a strike rate of over 146. While the score was modest, his attacking intent was clearly visible. Kohli has developed a more aggressive approach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years, marked by a significant rise in his attacking-shot percentage from 2021 to the current season.

Apart from his aggressive batting strategy, Kohli has remained sharp in the field. During the RCB vs DC match, he insisted on a DRS review off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's bowling after the umpire had adjudged opener Pathum Nissanka not out. Kohli could be heard insisting, "Out hai." The review proved him right, with the decision overturned.

Since 2021, there has been a steady shift towards a more aggressive batting approach from Kohli in the IPL. In 2021, his attacking-shot percentage stood at 40.6 per cent, which rose to 50.3 per cent in 2022. The numbers jumped further in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons, registering 62.5 per cent, 64.3 per cent and 68 per cent respectively. In IPL 2026, his attacking-shot percentage has crossed into the 70s, standing at 72.8 per cent.

In six innings so far this season, Kohli has scored 247 runs at an average of 49.40 and a strike rate of 157.32, including two fifties, with a highest score of 69*. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the season.

Turning to the match, DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli (19 off 13 balls, with three fours) put together a 52-run opening partnership. Salt (63 off 38 balls, with four fours and three sixes) was the standout performer with the bat, while the other RCB batters failed to capitalise on their starts. RCB were eventually restricted to 175/8 in 20 overs.

For DC, skipper Axar Patel (2/18), Kuldeep Yadav (2/32) and Lungi Ngidi (2/39) picked up two wickets each, ensuring that RCB could not fully exploit their promising beginnings.

Talks, Reintroduction: How Centre May Move Forward With Women's Quota Bill

Despite the constitutional amendment bill for implementing women's reservation having failed in the Lok Sabha, the path to implementing a 33 per cent reservation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections remains open.

Several options are currently being considered to achieve this. According to top government sources, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains committed to 33 per cent women's reservation.

To implement this in the next Lok Sabha elections, discussions will be held with all political parties and if necessary, the government may even consider re-introducing the bill during the monsoon session, sources said.

Despite the failure of the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, the government has not withdrawn the two accompanying bills that pertain to Union Territories and the delimitation process, and these remain pending in the Lok Sabha, sources said. The government can bring these bills up for a vote at any time, at its own convenience, they added.

Sources said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 or the 106th Constitutional Amendment remains fully in force. This implies that the avenue for implementing the 33 per cent reservation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections has not been closed.

The government had notified this law on Thursday night, precisely while the discussions regarding the 131st Constitutional Amendment were still underway. Under this foundational legislation, the implementation of women's reservation has been linked to the completion of the census and the subsequent delimitation process.

The amendment bill that failed to pass on Friday was intended to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats to 816, based on the 2011 census data, in order to facilitate the implementation of women's reservation.

However, the failure of this specific bill has had no adverse effect on the reservation quota stipulated in the original law. In any case, the 2023 legislation will come into effect only after the census is completed and the Lok Sabha seats are subsequently redetermined through the delimitation process based on that data.

The census enumeration process is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 2027. If a Delimitation Commission is constituted and completes its work immediately thereafter, women's reservation could be implemented in the 2029 elections.

Experts believe that the government still has several avenues through which it can implement women's reservation. It could increase the number of seats through the process of delimitation, but doing so would need a two-thirds majority in parliament. Notably, opposition parties have been raising objections regarding the delimitation of seats based on population. This was, in fact, a major reason behind the opposition to the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill.

Second Alternative

A second alternative route involves altering only the boundaries of constituencies without increasing the total number of seats, which is capped at 550. Building political consensus on this approach could prove to be comparatively easier, sources said.

Still, the government has yet another option at its disposal. Under this approach, Article 334A could be amended to delink the reservation mandate from the condition of delimitation. Such a move would enable the implementation of reservation on the existing 543 seats. A freeze on delimitation is currently in effect until 2026. As this freeze is set to expire that year, the government will need to give fresh consideration to this matter, sources said.

Amid these options, the central government has for now decided to use a politically aggressive stance against the Opposition. Coinciding with the assembly election in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, the government has organised protests to corner the Opposition.

Jensen Huang Slams Dario Amodei's 'Nukes To North Korea' AI Chip Analogy

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has pushed back against Anthropic boss Dario Amodei's comments that selling AI chips to China was like selling nukes to North Korea, calling the analogy "lunacy." In a wide-ranging interview with podcaster Dwarkesh Patel, Huang argued that "victimising" China or treating the nation as an "enemy" was a flawed strategy. He emphasised that China already possesses the domestic capacity and computing power to be a major player in the AI race, suggesting that isolationist policies might be counterproductive.

Following intense lobbying by Huang, the Trump administration authorised sales of NVIDIA's H-200 chips to China, reversing earlier Biden-era national security restrictions. The approval permits sales of these high-end, yet older-generation, processors, provided that the US government receives a 25 per cent fee on all sales.

Playing the 'devil's advocate', Patel asked Huang what would happen in the hypothetical scenario if China, using the chips supplied, were able to train models on par with Claude Mythos, which might threaten US national security and corporate dominance.

"First of all, Mythos was trained on fairly mundane capacity, and a fairly mundane amount of it. By an extraordinary company. The amount of capacity and the type of compute it was trained on is abundantly available in China. So you just have to first realise that chips exist in China," said Huang.

"Victimising them, turning them into an enemy, likely isn't the best answer. They are an adversary. We want the United States to win. But I think having a dialogue and having research dialogue is probably the safest thing to do."

Amodei's Analogy

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Amodei said selling the chips to China was like "selling nuclear weapons to North Korea".

"It would be a big mistake to ship these chips. I think this is crazy. It's a bit like selling nuclear weapons to North Korea," said Amodei.

Responding to the analogy, Huang replied: "Comparing AI to anything that you just mentioned is lunacy. It's a lousy analogy. It's an illogical analogy."

During the tense exchange, Huang also addressed concerns about whether exporting Nvidia chips to China would undermine America's competitive edge.

"The premise that even if we competed in China, that we're going to lose that market anyways. You're not talking to somebody who woke up a loser. That loser attitude, that loser premise makes no sense to me," said Huang.

Jay Shah, Ganguly Watch IPL Game In The Stands. Internet Can't Stop Praising

International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah and former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly were spotted watching the IPL 2026 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans from the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. It came as a surprise to many people that the duo was not in the VIP area and was seated with the fans during the match. High-profile attendees are not a surprise during IPL matches, but it is not common for them to be seated among the general crowd. Social media users were left impressed by Ganguly and Shah ditching 'VIP culture'.

A superb recovery led by Cameron Green's 79 off 55 balls was undone by a dramatic late-order collapse as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were bowled out for 180 in their 20 overs against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Despite Green's fine knock, laced with seven fours and four sixes, KKR lost their last six wickets for just 33 runs in the final phase of the innings. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for GT, returning figures of 3-33, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna played vital roles in stifling the KKR batters, though Ashok Sharma and Rashid Khan were expensive.

Pushed into bowling first after KKR elected to bat, Siraj struck in the very first over as skipper Ajinkya Rahane skewed an outswinger to mid-on and fell for a golden duck. Rabada then doubled the misery in the second over by having Angkrish Raghuvanshi nick behind to the keeper. When Tim Seifert (12) slapped a short delivery from Siraj straight to point, KKR were reeling at 32/3 in four overs.

KKR's recovery was initially sparked by Rovman Powell, who hit a cameo of 27 off 20 balls, including two massive sixes, shifting the pressure back onto the GT bowlers. His 55-run stand with Green, who timed the ball really well, steadied the ship before Ashok Sharma deceived him with a 107kph slower ball.

Green, who was struggling on 27 off 29 balls at one stage, suddenly found his groove in the 12th over by launching Rashid for a six and a four. He took a particular liking to the spinners, scoring 33 off just 18 balls against them. His 60-run partnership off 23 balls with Anukul Roy saw KKR gallop from 87/4 to 139/4 in the space of three overs.

However, the dismissal of Roy (9) by Prasidh Krishna in the 15th over triggered a sensational slide. Rinku Singh's poor run continued as he fell to Rabada, while Ramandeep Singh (17) holed out after a brief flurry of boundaries.

In a bizarre final stretch, Green, who had reached 75 off 44 balls, became a virtual spectator at the non-striker's end as wickets tumbled, with the seam-bowling all-rounder facing only two of them during that sequence.

Green managed only four runs off his final 11 deliveries before being caught behind off the last ball of the innings off Rashid. From a position where 200 looked certain, KKR finished with 180 - a total that looks below par on a pitch favouring good strokeplay.

Ram Gopal Varma Claims Dhurandhar 2 Got Dawood Ibrahim Act Wrong

Ram Gopal Varma has been one of the most vocal admirers of Dhurandhar 2, showering the Aditya Dhar directorial with glowing praise ever since its release.

However, despite his overwhelming appreciation, RGV has now opened up about the one aspect of the film that did not sit right with him.

RGV On Dawood Ibrahim's Depiction

In a recent conversation with writer Hussain Zaidi on his YouTube channel, RGV spoke at length about what impressed him in Dhurandhar 2. While he lauded the film's craft and storytelling, he admitted to having reservations about the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim.

"The only element I disagree with is that. I feel that the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim... They might have their own sources (but) I think it is being shown incorrectly," he said.

In the film, the notorious gangster is referred to as 'Bade Sahab' and is depicted as the mastermind orchestrating terror operations in India from Pakistan. However, RGV suggested that this interpretation may not align with what he believes to be true.

RGV's Clarification

The Satya director clarified that while he does not claim absolute authority on the subject, the film's narrative does not match his understanding of Dawood's current status.

"It's not like I can say that with authority. But it is not falling in line with what I know," he explained.

RGV added that, based on what he has heard over the years, Dawood has been largely inactive. "He is inactive by choice, because he stopped doing anything. I believe he retired from criminal activities 20 years ago," he said.

At the same time, he acknowledged the ambiguity surrounding such figures, noting that no one can definitively confirm or deny the truth. "Nobody can be an expert, nobody can know this is the truth. We all think Dhurandhar has shown something... I can't disprove it, and the director can't prove it as well," he concluded.

About Dhurandhar 2

The sequel to Dhurandhar follows the rise of Ranveer Singh's Hamza Ali Mazari as Sher-e-Baloch and the undisputed king of Lyari. It also traces his journey from becoming Jaskirat Singh Rangi to Hamza, the man who intrudes into Pakistan as a spy to avenge the terrorist attacks in the nation.

The spy-action thriller also brings back the talented supporting cast, including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, and Sara Arjun.

Live: Pakistan Army Chief Meets Iran Speaker Ghalibaf

US Iran War, Peace Talks LIVE Updates: The leader of Iran's joint military command threatened Wednesday to halt trade in the Gulf region if the U.S. does not lift its blockade of Iranian ports. Even so, US President Donald Trump said the war in Iran was "very close to over" in an interview that aired Wednesday.

Separately, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that the US is preparing to ramp up economic pain on Iran by levying secondary sanctions on financial institutions that do business with the Middle Eastern nation. Bessent called the measure the "financial equivalent" of the bombing campaign.

Mediators' efforts to extend a US-Iran ceasefire made progress as the two sides are expected to hold another round of negotiations, regional officials said. But a senior US official said Washington has not formally agreed to extend the ceasefire. A Pakistani delegation arrived for talks in Tehran in the latest diplomatic move.

Israel, meanwhile, is pressing ahead with its aerial and ground war against the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon, a day after the two nations held their first direct talks in decades.

Greenland Shark That Lives Upto 500 Years Washes Up On Irish Beach

An ancient Greenland shark, thought to be at least 150 years old, has been found on an Irish beach in what experts call a "very rare" event. The nearly 9.5-foot carcass was found in Finisklin, County Sligo, by two locals named Hammad Chaudhry and James Winters O'Donnell, who were out for a stroll along the beach. Initially believed to be a basking shark, the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) confirmed the rare find, noting it is the first recorded stranding of its kind in the Emerald Isle.

"On the evening of Saturday, April 11th, the IWDG Live Stranding hotline received a report of a two-metre dead basking shark. Photos confirmed however, that this was not a basking shark and indeed a very rare and interesting stranding," read the statement by IWDG.

The Greenland shark can have a lifespan of more than 500 years, the longest of any known vertebrate. They typically reach a length of four to six metres.

"Little is known about the elusive Greenland Shark in Ireland, native to deep and remote waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic, however they are known to reach sexual maturity around 150 years of age and give birth their pups live after a gestation period of 8 to 18 years," IWDG said, adding that the male individual in Sligo had very developed claspers, suggesting that it may have been on the brink of maturity.

Scientists To Study The Shark

The shark carcass is now in the possession of the Natural History Museum of Ireland (NHMI), where it will be dissected and studied by the researchers.

"Tissue samples and selected anatomical components are being preserved as part of the NHMI's scientific collections," a NHMI spokesperson told BBC.

"Subject to the condition of the skin and its suitability for preservation, the National Museum hopes to display the specimen in the future, which would allow visitors to learn more about one of the world's most mysterious shark species."
