Arvind Kejriwal Faces Police Case In Haryana Day Before Delhi Goes To Polls

A police case has been filed against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a day before Delhi goes to polls, over his allegations that Haryana is poisoning the waters of Yamuna. The case, filed in Haryana, accuses the Aam Aadmi Party chief under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The allegations include inciting riot, promotion of hatred, falsely accusing someone of crime with intent to cause harm and committing deliberate and malicious acts that insult the religious feelings of citizens.

Mr Kejriwal's remarks, made last week in the run-up to the election, has triggered a huge political row and the matter has even reached the Election Commission.

The BJP, AAP and the Congress have each dared the other to drink the water and Mr Kejriwal has even extended the challenge to the Election Commission, drawing a strong reprimand.

In response to the poll body's demand for hard evidence of his claim against Haryana, Mr Kejriwal had written back, "We have four bottles... will send to each one of them... please drink and show us. Then we will believe".

In his first response to the Commission, Mr Kejriwal had cited a letter from the Delhi Jal Board that said the ammonia levels in the Yamuna had reached critical levels -- 700 times the normal -- and that it was "extremely poisonous for human health".

The Commission, while acknowledging the ammonia levels, said the former Delhi Chief Minister was "entirely silent... on your widely circulated... statement of 'poisoning of Yamuna by Government of Haryana with intention to cause genocide in Delhi' (and) equating it with an act of war between two nations".

The Commission also equated his comment with malicious comments made to create enmity with the neighbouring state.

Vociferously denying the allegations, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini released a video of himself taking a sip of Yamuna water. AAP alleged that he had spat it out.

Congress's Rahul Gandhi alleged that Mr Kejriwal had promised to clean up the Yamuna within fie years but failed. "I would ask him to drink it (Yamuna water), we will meet in the hospital after that," he added while speaking at a public meeting.

PM Modi then stepped in, declaring that the BJP government in Haryana would not poison the water he drank.

He also alleged that the AAP chief, with such bizarre comments, was trying to deflect attention from his party's failures in governance.

Ex-NASA Researcher Shares Blunt Rejection Email From Recruiter

A former NASA researcher shared a brutal rejection e-mail she received from a recruiter after she applied for a job while trying to "branch out" in the job market. The woman who also has a master's degree in particle physics and has worked in IT, data analysis, manufacturing and at NASA said that she was sent a "rude and cruel message" by the hiring manager.

She explained that she had applied for a business development role, despite noticing that the qualifications section had truncated or missing text in the bullet points. The listed qualifications focused on experience in manufacturing and fabrication, knowledge of mechanical interfaces, blueprint reading, and proficiency in CRM and Excel. Given the tough job market, she decided to apply anyway, hoping to expand her opportunities after being laid off.

Recruiter sent me a message berating me for applying

However, the recruiter's response caught her off guard. They began their message by questioning whether she had even read the job description before applying.

"Did you read the position description? Only apply to positions that may be a match for your background/experience. To do otherwise is an extreme waste of everyone's time, especially the recruiter or hiring manager's time, as this all too often happens," they wrote.

The researcher was taken aback by the response and decided to reply, attaching a screenshot of the qualifications section to highlight the missing text. "I'm not sure I should have done that, to be honest, but I was completely shocked," she admitted.

Her post quickly went viral, with users rallying behind her and criticizing the recruiter's approach.

The incident has reignited debates about professionalism in hiring and how recruiters should engage with job seekers, especially in a challenging job market.

"But when it's the other way around and they want a junior position to have 12+ years experience that's not wasting anyone's time? Or a decade of experience in something that's been out for five years?" a user commented.

Another recruiter even offered to turn the tables. "Feel free to DM me his contact info. I'll send him a mismatched resume and wait for his response. As a former Director of Recruiting, I know just how to make this idiot rethink his professional career choice."

"I'll send them 30 dummy resumes during my downtime at work," the third user wrote.

PM Modi Likely To Visit US On February 12, Hold Talks With Trump: Sources

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the US on February 12, sources in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. This would be PM Modi's first visit to the US after President Donald Trump's historic comeback to the White House.

According to the travel plan, PM Modi will fly to Washington DC after his two-day visit to Paris, sources said, adding there is no official announcement yet.

PM Modi will be among a handful of foreign leaders to travel to Washington DC on a bilateral visit within weeks after the Trump administration came to power.

PM Modi is travelling to Paris to attend the Artificial Intelligence Action summit on February 10 and 11.

If PM Modi goes to the US, it would be amid concerns in India over Donald Trump's approach on immigration and tariffs.

Donald Trump on Sunday announced imposing a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian and Mexican imports as well as an additional 10 per cent tax on Chinese goods. Later, he put a hold tariff on Mexican imports, but did not announce any relief for the other two.

In a phone call on January 27, a week after the new US President's inauguration, PM Modi and Donald Trump agreed to work towards a "trusted" partnership with a focus on boosting India-US cooperation in trade, energy and defence.

Following the phone talks, the White House said Donald Trump emphasised on the importance of India increasing its procurement of US-made security equipment and moving toward a fair bilateral trade relationship.

India has already indicated its keenness to expand energy ties with the US, especially in the clean energy sector.

India on Saturday announced plans to amend its nuclear liability law and set up a nuclear energy mission, a move that came ahead of PM Modi's likely visit to the US.

Certain clauses in India's Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010 have emerged as hurdles in moving forward in implementing the historic civil nuclear deal that was firmed up between the countries 16 years ago.

India is said to be looking at the possibility of civil nuclear cooperation with the US in small modular reactors (SMRs). US-based Holtec International is one of the leading exporters of SMRs and the Department of Atomic Energy is learnt to be interested in collaborating with the American firm.

Billionaire Anil Agarwal Recalls Buying His First 330 Sq Ft Mumbai Home

For Vedanta Chairperson Anil Agarwal, buying his first 330 sq ft home in Mumbai was a profound achievement. Sharing his story on X, the billionaire recalled that when he first considered buying a home, he had only Rs 75,000-far from enough to afford a property. Despite this, he aspired to own a home in Malabar Hill, one of Mumbai's most expensive areas.

"When I first arrived in Bombay, I lived near the Cotton Exchange in Kalbadevi. My first business partner had a small office there, and that's where my journey began. Life was simple, but my dreams were not. After years of hard work and jugaad, I finally dared to think about buying my own flat. Sapne bade the, lekin bank mein sirf Rs 75,000 the (My dreams were big, but I had only Rs 75,000 in my account)," he shared.

See the post here:

His friends and well-wishers advised him to look for a home in the suburbs, as it was a more affordable and practical option. However, Agarwal had a different vision. "I wanted to live where the top people lived. Malabar Hill, near Peddar Road-that's where I saw myself because I believed that one day, I would also make it big," he said.

Eventually, he purchased a modest 330 sq ft flat, which he considered his greatest achievement. "That house wasn't just bricks and walls; it was proof that I was moving in the right direction," he reflected. Looking back, he emphasized the importance of ambition and self-belief. "Life is all about dreaming big and believing in yourself. Start small, work hard, and never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot achieve," he concluded.

"Move To Attract Delhi, Bihar Voters' Attention": P Chidambaram On Tax Cuts

Former Union finance minister, Congress's P Chidambaram, today ripped into the Union Budget 2025, criticising it on multiple heads including the biggest talking point -- the income tax rebate to the middle class. He also trashed the possibility of the budget boosting private investment, saying given the current scenario of excessive regulations and "weaponisation" of central agencies, investors are finding other nations more attractive.

Asked about the tax proposed rebates that will kick in soon, Mr Chidambaram called it a "clever  move intended to attract the attention of the voters of Delhi and Bihar".

Underscoring he had "no complaints" about the relief to tax payers, he said this much lauded initiative will only benefit 3.2 crore people in that tax bracket. "What happens to the rest 140 crore people? What about the rest," he questioned.

"If you cut GST, reduced taxes on petrol and diesel, increased MNREGA wages it would have benefitted more people," he added.

He also thumbs downed on the introduction of new schemes, saying why it was required when the existing schemes are "underfunded or underutilised".

Moreover, he said that allocation expenditure number is not giving him "optimism".

"For example, revenue receipts are down by 41,240 crore. revised net tax receipts are lower by 26,439 crore," he added, pointing out that the growth figures will be the same as last year. "Neither the finance minister not Chief Economic Advisor can say because of this budget, the growth figure will rise next year to 8 per cent... The money in key sectors remain underspent. Not sure of the capacity of such a government," he added.
